So, the media reports that Trump is 'exploring' ways to quit the Paris 'Climate Change' Agreement? Some thoughts...

Plenty of articles on the subject, over the last few weeks…

The typical run is that reporters talk about how hard it will be to quit, how there is a 4 year requirement to do so, and how the Trump team is trying to figure out how to ‘get around’ this…

One small problem:

The agreement was never ratified by US Congress so – despite what many reporters *wish* was true (and what they write in their articles) it is not legally binding on the US.

Trump can quit simply by stating this fact:

“President Obama never submitted this to Congress for ratification, and Congress has not ratified it. This means that in accordance with the US Constitution, we are not actually bound by this agreement unless it is submitted to Congress and ratified. I have no intention of submitting it for ratification, and even if I did, Congress would not ratify it – just as they did not ratify the Kyoto protocol”

And he just might…

On the other hand, the ‘furious looking’ might be an indication of another issue: A desire to undo some (or all) of Obama’s legacy *without* diminishing the power of the Presidency.

After all, if we re-establish that agreements are treaties & must be ratified by the Senate… Trump can’t make any similar ‘deals’ himself…

Hmm… Let’s see how this goes…
