Several young, up and coming Republicans will speak at the GOP Convention in Minneapolis. Sarah Palin(R-AK), Bobby Jindal(R-LA), Linda Lingle(R-HI), and Michael Steele(R-MD).
Michael Steele aside, these rather unknown faces on the political scene have something in common. They’re all successful Republican governors in an otherwise anti-Republican year. Actually it’s been an anti-Republican 8 years. Fact is the Republican party is hated, I think people hate the IRS just a tad bit more than they hate the Republicans. If someone had to choose getting cancer and having George Bush and Dick Cheney in office for another 8 years they’d take cancer in a heartbeat(Okay maybe I’m exaggerating a bit but you get my message) Let’s take Bobby Jindal first. Jindal basically came in during the Katrina horror and turned Louisiana around for the better. The young Gov. cleaned up the messed of former Gov. Kathleen Blanco and current lame duck Mayor Ray “Chocolate City” Nagin.
But who would have guessed this unknown Republican could succeed when George Bush was not only blamed for the lack of response to Katrina victims IE Mike Brown and FEMA, but hell people probably blame him as the cause of hurricane Katrina. I mean, sounds strange but I’ve heard stranger allegations. You know Jesus Christ’s crucifixion? According to the left, all Bush.
But I think the fact these governors can survive in hostile times is a sign of their appeal and their purity. Their political cleanliness. We should all be proud of Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, Linda Lingle and others who wish to take this party out of the dark ages and into a more diverse and expansive front. Knowing our party is in good hands for the future makes me proud to say that I am a Republican.
