Diary

Happy Birthday, Dear Vladimir, Happy Birthday to Me!

Vladimir, the RedState blogger, was born on a Saturday afternoon four short years ago.

What a long, strange trip it’s been.

My pet issues are Louisiana politics, Energy and the Environment, in no particular order. But what got me started blogging here was the Rathergate scandal — it’s hard to believe that was only four years ago. My passion for politics stems from the deeply held belief (or fear) that there must be a meaningful check on the political power granted to the Far Left Wing of the Democratic Party (which currently controls it). If they got their way, these nimrods would have us at the threshhold of a Fascist dictatorship in no time flat.

My most memorable experience as a RedState blogger was dinner at the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion last March. Erick and Ben were there — thank you, gentlemen, it was a pleasure meeting you (and your friend, Mary Catherine Ham).

This diary stands out in my mind as one of my favorite contributions. Sorry about the reposting, Moe.

Thomas, I wish you’d visit more often. Moe, Jeff, Adam, you guys do a terrific job.

Joliphant, it’s good to see you’re posting again. While I’m indulging in “shout-outs”, I find the posts of Skanderbeg to be of uniformly high quality (and uniquely informative). The posts and comments of gamecock & mbecker to always add a certain “je ne sais quoi” to the substance, texture and entertainment value of the site.

All the others, heck, you’re too numerous to mention.

RedState is an important voice for the people, and a counterbalance to the abuses of the MSM. Now, let’s go win an election!
