Knicker Bomber Bureaucratic Cover Up, Look For it

We’re having a difficult time reconstructing a step-by-step process by which the knicker bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, could pass through several levels of security without a passport, luggage, and a one-way ticket, but still was able to board a Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit Christmas Day.

The failure was truly systemic, only, a year ago that same system worked. Airline and Dutch security officials bear some of the blame for allowing the man to even get to the gate, but until shown otherwise we have to stand by our earlier position that this failure, in State, in DHS, in TSA, was human, and it was in managment…all the way up the line.

Until shown otherwise, this was caused by a bureaucratic standing-down, which often occurs when senior management changes.
