Earlier this week as Speaker [mc_name name=’Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’R000570′ ] helped pass a multi-year highway spending bill that will spend hundreds of billions of dollars California congressman [mc_name name=’Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’R000487′ ], chairman of the House Foreign Affairs committee offered an amendment that would prohibit the Export-Import bank which is revived under the Ryan Highway bill from doing any business with state sponsors of terrorism as defined and listed by the State Department. That list is a short one consisting of Syria, Sudan, and Iran.
Thanks to 63 House Republicans joining with nearly every Democrat Royce’s measure was defeated and Iran could have access, should President Obama uses his pen and his phone, not to mention powers contained within the Iran nuclear deal, to American taxpayer money to facilitate deals with the likes of Boeing.

Illinois Republicans [mc_name name=’Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’B001295′ ], [mc_name name=’Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’D000619′ ], [mc_name name=’Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’H001059′ ], and [mc_name name=’Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’K000378′ ] joined with the Dems to allow Iran access to the Ex-Im Bank. Other notable congressman from the list of 63 are [mc_name name=’Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’B001283′ ] from Oklahoma and [mc_name name=’Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’H001048′ ] from California, two people who should have known better than to have voted down Royce’s amendment.
Iran, one of the worlds leading state sponsors of terrorism. A terror state that is already violating the nuclear agreement with President Obama. Is responsible for nearly 200 American service members being killed, and nearly 1,000 more seriously injured by Explosive Force Penetrators, specially designed IED’s meant to pierce the armor of US military vehicles and to cause maximum damage to the occupants.
It is truly incredulous that Hunter and Kinzinger, both Iraq war Veterans would do such a disservice to their fallen comrades by letting Iran have access to the Export-Import Bank. Hunter did two tours in Iraq with the Marines and a third in Afghanistan, while Kinzinger did his tours with the Air Force. Both currently hold the rank of Major in the Marine Reserves and Air Guard respectively.
The Washington Free Beacon has a great write-up on how truly terrible it is to allow Iran access to the Ex-Im Bank, and Mike Flynn writing at Breitbart gives a good take on just how bad the Ex-Im Bank is in general. Also please read Adam Andrzejewski’s Open the Books report proving the Ex-Im bank is a big pile of crony capitalism(over half of the Ex-Im loans go to Boeing, General Electric, and Caterpillar).
Shame on all 63 of those Republican’s for doing this, and shame on Speaker [mc_name name=’Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’R000570′ ] for tucking the Ex-Im Banks revival into the highway funding bill.
