Not The Onion: McConnell Says Mark Kirk's Been A Success As A Senator

No this is not an Onion story.

[mc_name name=’Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’M000355′ ], the Republican Senate majority leader actually sent out a campaign email this week that said that [mc_name name=’Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’K000360′ ]’s been a success as a Senator and that he has got to be reelected. Kirk is the most vulnerable GOP Senator running for reelection, and is guaranteed to lose against Democrat candidate congresswoman [mc_name name=’Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’D000622′ ].

From Illinois Review:

In short, Mark’s first term in the U.S. Senate has been a resounding success and he is one of the Republican Senators I am personally helping to win reelection because the country needs his leadership.

In the email blast McConnell extolled Kirk for being a defense and fiscal hawk who is going to be desperately needed to pass a balanced budget amendment and to repeal Obamacare; two things that have next to no chance of actually happening with establishment Republicans like McConnell running the show.

Of course Mitch forgets to mention that in 2014 Kirk was busy helping to get “Little” Dick Durbin reelected, was the only Republican Senator to vote to keep Planned Parenthood funded, was the only one to vote for sanctuary cities to keep getting federal funding while they blatantly ignore federal immigration law, has been weak on the 2nd amendment, is pro-gay marriage, and supports abortion above and beyond his Planned Parenthood vote.

The word across Illinois is that Kirk is having real trouble getting people to sign his ballot petitions. GOP organizations have been issuing censors of Kirk. The conservative grassroots and the Tea Party are all lining up behind Kirk’s primary opponent Oswego businessman James Marter.  In short [mc_name name=’Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’K000360′ ] is in real trouble of not even making it out of the March primary.

And here we have one of the leading establishment RINOs begging Illinois voters to stop turning their backs on him and help him in his reelection.

Clearly Mitch doesn’t get it, under no circumstance can [mc_name name=’Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’K000360′ ] beat [mc_name name=’Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’D000622′ ].

James Marter on the other hand would at least have a fighting chance.
