The 4th is a wonderful holiday filled with fun, family and friends the same goes for Memorial Day as well as other important National holidays. It is important that we do set aside these days to remember, but we should celebrate our independence everyday. We should honor those who have fought and sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy everyday. The United States of America is an amazing country filled with and founded by awe-inspiring people. Our nation is not perfect, but we strive for perfection. We have the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution with the Bill of Rights as our foundation.
We have “equal opportunity for all” because of our independence and the sacrifices of so many. One way to celebrate and honor is to vote, but we need to go farther and become politically active. Cold Warrior has been advocating this forever. We need to elect conservatives for all levels of government and make sure they walk their talk while in office. Gender and race do not matter just solid, common sense conservatives.
Celebrate by voicing your conservative beliefs and opinions. This one is hard for me because my sister is Liberal, brother-Libertarian, Dad & I-Conservative and “She Who Must Be Obeyed” a.k.a Mom-conservative, but wants to keep the peace in the family. I found a way around that by paraphrasing a statement by St. Francis, “preach the Word and occasionally speak it.” Walk your talk then you don’t run into the problem of “Do as I say not as I do” that many other have.
Teaching your children well also gives honor to those sacrifices. I don’t have any children of my own, but I do my best with my three nephews. Mrs. Cheney’s books are wonderful for this as far as American history goes, but again we have to walk our talk and teach by example. If we make a mistake, admit it, correct it, make amends if needed and keep going forward just like our nation.
Our Nation has had hard times, but we have overcome them because the United States of America is amazing. I have watched as events unfolded in Iran and other countries and in my prayers I thank God every night that I live in the U.S.A. We are so blessed with the foresight of the “Founding Fathers,” the service of our veterans, those currently serving in the Armed Services and those who sacrificed their lives for our country.
Every day is Independence Dy, Memorial Day, Veterans’ Day, Flag Day, etc.! Celebrate! Walk your talk!
