After being backstabbed by “one of their own” in Tennessee, now the GOP is to believe they can trust a Democrat, Governor John Lynch, to “Do the honorable thing” and appoint a Republican or Independent to replace Senator Judd Gregg in New Hampshire if he takes the Obama gig as secretary of commerce?
Rather than do what might further his own career by helping his own Democrat party, Pres. Obama, and Harry Reid ace out their opposition altogether, Gov. Lynch will “cross the isle” and appoint somebody who will help Republicans keep some sense of significance in the US Senate.
In an interview on CBS-TV’s “Face the Nation,” McConnell said, “Senator Gregg has assured me that if this were to happen – if it were to happen – he would not change the makeup of the Senate. In other words, whoever is appointed to replace him would caucus with Senate Republicans.”
Excuse me? Why does McConnell think Obama would pick Gregg to begin with? Are these honorable people he’s dealing with?
How many times they ask him to bend over and get kicked in his posterior by the other side is his business, but when he puts his entire party in jeopardy of being steamrolled like cartoon characters somebody on his own side needs to swing a boot at his backside.
This on top of, as Michelle Malkin puts it, having “misplaced his cerebrum” by proposing more big government?
McConnell may like a crap sandwich to share with his Democrat pals, but he’s kidding himself if he expects us to sit at the table and chow it down with him.
