The Deep State: A Partial Meeting Transcript

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, joined at left by, Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., Rep. Bradley Schneider, D-Ill., and Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., prepare to walk out of the hearing room briefly after waiting Republican members of the committee to arrive more than an hour after the scheduled start time for a markup session, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, June 26, 2018. The panel was meeting on their months-long standoff with the Justice Department on the request by the Republican-controlled committee for documents related to the origins of the FBI's Russia investigation and the handling of its probe into Democrat Hillary Clinton's emails. Imagine a get-together of the resistance… where they had the conversation setting up this latest run at Trump:

Barry: OK people, I think we can agree that the last few runs at Trump including taking out that Kavanaugh guy didn’t work out the way we diagrammed it.
John B.: Yeah, Barry. First, I have to say, nice house out here and the view from the beach is just stunning.
Samantha: Yeah, it really is nice, isn’t it?
Barry: Thanks John, Sam, I have to thank all of you for getting me through office without any scandals, you were both right, our people are not so bright and really will believe anything.
John C: OK, enough for the pleasantries, what are we going to do next?
Rosy: We have a lot of assets in the other departments and they were a lot of help in setting up our last op and they feel underused, maybe we can come up with something they can help with?
Weissman: That’s a good idea, after the last few failed attacks some of us are already taking fire, I hear that Durham is looking into my tricks so I don’t feel comfortable putting myself out there. If we use those other assets we can mix up the direction by coming from there but they don’t have the juice we have to bring him down without help from some powerful people in Congress. I know dirty and there’s nobody dirtier than sh*t-for-brains…
Barry: Hey Weiss, no need for name-calling. Schiff is an idiot but he’s OUR idiot…
Nancy: I agree Barry, let’s get back to the topic at hand…
Weissman: … What I was saying, maybe we can just make some more stuff up, Trump is careless in how he says, what he says and I think we can use the perjury-like trap I’ve used with Flynn and company. It’s been working for years but you have to be willing to break a few laws to make it work…
H.C.: Yeah, that’s an oldie but a goodie, that’s for sure. And, the best part is that since it requires useful idiots on the other side to work and the GOP has plenty in their NT wing, this approach will resonate on their side and, although it seems desperate, it might work.
Everyone: Murmuring in assent.

To be continued…
