It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Somewhere in the center of the photo below is former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin, attending the Iowa Sate Fair yesterday. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a media throng!
I may be going out on a limb here, but I submit that the entire GOP presidential candidate field combined could not draw this kind of coverage.
Fortunately for this field, which is causing many on the right to suffer from Electyle Dysfunction – the inability to get excited over the current GOP offerings – Palin decided not to stay in Iowa for today’s straw poll. A decision that’s sure to prompt a big sigh of relief from the GOP contenders in that they may now actually see some media coverage.
In a world that has been turned on it’s head, where perception trumps reality and far too many of today’s ‘leaders’ carefully craft an image of themselves that wouldn’t recognize the truth if it bumped into it, where style reigns supreme over substance and authenticity matters not, we have the gracious, ever so refreshing Sarah Palin.
A woman who does not have to work at relating to the common man simply because she is of the common man. The consummate outsider in a political world gone amuck. A woman who has the courage to stand up to the elite ruling class on both sides of the aisle AND work with anyone who’s willing to do the right thing. A woman who will not tolerate putting personal gain before the good of the people, as the political establishment is so want to do.
A woman who’s character and integrity are just as important to her as the next breath she draws, a woman who understands that to whom much is given, much is expected.
With the great American experiment that our Founding Fathers sacrificed their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to produce crumbling all around us, by the grace of God, the citizens of this country will be given the opportunity to correct the course in 2012. Perhaps the final opportunity, for one has to believe that for even God, there’s a limit to His patience.
Yes, it’s a given that Sarah Palin is running for President of the United States.
The real question here is will the American people accept that for whom much is given, much is expected and rise above the multi-million dollar Madison Ave. marketing campaigns and accept the responsibility to really know who they’re voting for? Yes, this is the same American populace that bought the hype of ‘Hope and Change‘ hook, line and sinker, yet, as has been proven time and again, eventually America get’s it right – usually after trying all other options, but we get it right.
And if we are to continue this great American experiment, we must rise to the challenge before us just as the stories of American history tell us have been done so many times before. In fact, Sarah Palin is the ultimate American story… and the only possible outcome to bring this story full circle and atone for the manner in which this woman and her family have been so unjustly maligned is to introduce her to the world on November 7, 2012 as Madame President. America, are you up for the challenge?
