Mom, he’s doing it again! Trump is now really pushing the matter of Rubio’s eligibility: Politico has the set up – yesterday Donald Trump “retweeted” a tweet which eluded to Marco Rubio not really being a US citizen. Today, he’s on ABC with George Stephanopoulos who asked him about it.
“You’re really not sure that Marco Rubio is eligible to run for president? You’re really not sure?” Stephanopoulos asked.
“I don’t know. I really — I’ve never looked at it, George. I honestly have never looked at it. As somebody said, he’s not. And I retweeted it. I have 14 million people between Twitter and Facebook and Instagram and I retweet things, and we start dialogue and it’s very interesting,” Trump said.
Democrats use superdelegates because they’re “real people”: Yesterday Debbie Wasserman Schultz explained superdelegates to Rachel Maddow. “Those unpledged delegates are elected officials, party leaders, people who have spent years and years in the Democratic party, members of Congress, our DNC members …”. The Free Beacon said she went on to explain the need for superdelegates:
“But we do that so that we can make sure we maximize the ability of real people to participate in our convention. If you look at our convention, it looks like the rainbow that is America, if you look at the Republican convention, they put a little bit of the rainbow in the front row, and then the rest of the, their convention is not so diverse. So it’s really important that we make sure we separate the types of delegates,” Wasserman-Schultz said.”
Nevada’s caucus is two days away! That was fast. You’ve got two days to stock up on snacks and beverages before we’re hit with another election/caucus thingy. Here’s the link to the Nevada GOP Caucus page with a primer on how their caucus works. I don’t understand all of it myself, but this page promises the whole thing will be “exciting.” So, there’s that.
No, Hillary did not die: Yesterday was busy with two campaigns in two states. You will be forgiven if you overlooked this story. From Mediaite, a Bernie Sanders supporter thought it would be hilarious to run a Hillary Clinton obituary in the Las Vegus Review Journal. On the obit form he listed the day of death as yesterday, the day of the dem primary. Secret Service was call in but no arrest is expected.
The Romney effect: Mitt Romney has endorsed Marco Rubio. Then again maybe not, claims Daily Beast. But he does have another connection to this year’s election. Mitt Romney’s former advisor is Katie Packer. Packer, says The Hill, runs “Our Principles PAC.” That PAC has spent over $4 million running ads so far this election season targeted directly against Donald Trump.

- Numbers are fun. Back of the envelope using numbers from Fox and Politico. I’ve added up vote totals for the 3 states already voted: Trump 385,684; Cruz 249,645; Rubio 239,078. (some of these may still be unofficial

Trumpism of the day: He was on Meet the Press today. Simple question did you–or did you not– say we should invade Iraq back in 2002. The Hill caught his answer:
“Well, what I mean by that is it almost shouldn’t have been done, and, you know, I really don’t even know what I mean, because that was a long time ago, and who knows what was in my head?” he said.
(Yes. Who indeed?)
