Sarah Palin Attacks Lame Stream Media for Doing It's Job

Sarah Palin has not had a good history with media. It could have started around the time she referred to the main stream media as lame stream media. But whenever it started it may have just gotten a little worse.  The Hill says she went on the Today Show this morning and lit into the hosts after questions were asked about her son Track involving his recent arrest and post traumatic stress disorder.

Palin claimed she was told she was on the show to talk about the caucus and politics and not about her children. She said it was a “promise”, and then took a jab saying, ” You guys don’t always keep your promises, evidently.”  Co-host Matt Lauer denied any type of promise being made regarding what would be talked about during the interview.

Palin was fairly cordial to the media last month when she went on stage to endorse Donald Trump in his  campaign to be GOP nominee for president. She basked in the limelight knowing this was why she was brought in, to get media attention for a campaign. But later in the day news surfaced that her son 26 year old Track Palin had been arrested on domestic violence charges involving an incident with his girlfriend.  The next day at Trump rally she volunteered to address the issue by bringing up her son by saying “had suffered trauma while serving in Iraq.”

I guess it’s kind of the elephant in the room, because my own family, going through what we’re going through today with my son, a combat vet having served in a Stryker brigade fighting for you all, America, in the war zone.” The crowd cheered. “My son, like so many others, they come back a bit different,” she said. “They come back hardened.”

After the rally veterans and spokespersons for organizations representing veterans took to the media exclaiming this was publicity they didn’t seek nor was it appreciated. Here at RedState “Dafyd” wrote:

“I wish Sarah Palin had not described her son’s behavior in that way because of the way it seeks to remove moral agency from our troops, inadvertently stigmatizes people diagnosed with PTSD, and increases the difficulty of actually treating people who have suffered from traumatic stress events.”

Maybe that’s why Sarah was so touchy this morning. She really didn’t want to get into the whole PTSD issue after the push back she received from veterans last time out. But there are other ways to utilize the media and she knows them all. She may have went on the show planning on just discussing Trump, his campaign,  and only politics but she was the one who injected Track, his arrest, and mental health concerns in the mix several weeks ago. It was supposedly the first TV interview she’s done since then so she had to expect it was going to come up. She could have talked with a veteran’s group and asked how she could focus positive attention to their cause in the future.  Television and newspapers, even internet, may very well be “lame stream media” in Sarah’s world but she’s the one who seeks that limelight and can’t cry when the lame light focuses on her poor choices .
