If we take a short trip back to a week ago we learned from Streiff that Donald Trump was blasting to anyone who would listen that it was he, in fact, who was instrumental in getting U.S. prisoners released from Iran. “They’re in one of the worst prisons in the world,” Trump said, “and we had to do something, so I’d always talk about it.”
But that was then. Today Trump is taking credit for the rise of Bernie Sanders who is beating rival Hillary Clinton in some recent polling. The Hill captured some of Trump’s modesty:
“Look, I was the best thing that ever happened to Bernie Sanders, because my attack on Hillary – all of a sudden she went down, and Sanders got all the credit for it, right?” Trump said at a rally in Muscatine, Iowa.
“And then they start saying, ‘Bernie Sanders is surging, an amazing thing happened.’ I did it – I’m saying I did that,” he added.
“This guy Bernie Sanders – give me a break. How does he figure this whole thing? But he got all the credit – it’s unbelievable.”
Certainly this is no way as big a deal as when he helped secure the release of the prisoners. Or maybe it is. We’ll just have to wait for him to tell us. Until then, I’m sure Bernie is thankful for all the help Trump is sending his way. Quick question: Trump is able to do, well everything, to hear him tell it. Couldn’t he have done something about that drought that plagued California for years?
