Notice I didn’t put the words “Breaking News” in the title. Mainly because this will not come as much of a shock to those who have been following [mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ] and the effort he has put into getting his Conservative message out to Iowans.
Now, I can leave the rest of the space open so people can talk about how Iowa doesn’t matter. And how Iowa hardly ever picks the President. And where the heck is Iowa on the map anyway?
Or, I can let Bob Vander Plaats explain exactly why he gave the endorsement:
“At the end of the day, we truly believe that Ted Cruz is the most consistent and principled conservative who has the ability to not only win Iowa but I believe to win the (Republican) nomination,” Bob Vander Plaats, the president of the Family Leader, told The Des Moines Register in an interview Wednesday.”
Maybe a Vander Plaats endorsement doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. He may just be a big fish in a small pond. Still, every four years it’s an endorsement that “trumps” many others in this state.
