After Boehner, Who's Next to Retire? (Update of open thread) Value Voters Summit Poll Results

I’m just going to go straight to the paragraph in a story from TheHill that brings up an interesting scenario.

“You’re going to see a lot of the older, Boehner lieutenants start to consider retirement,” said Bob Kish, an Ohio-based GOP ad maker. “Guys who are buddies with Boehner are going to say, ‘Screw this. If he’s not in charge, I’m not staying in the insane asylum.”

Just as House members are jockeying for various and sundry positions within the leadership circle, there’s movement in Ohio to fill Boehner’s House seat.  You can look over some of the names and see if anything strikes your fancy in the event you find yourself bored but strangely attracted to the going’s on in Ohio’s 8th district.

I was more focused on that very last paragraph about the possibility that other members of the House may now decide to retire because their buddy has left.  Obviously if one or two make it into the leadership positions they may choose to hang on a little longer but I leave it to YOU to offer up some names, because wouldn’t that throw a monkey wrench into our upcoming election season?

Any “older, Boehner lieutenants” ready to jump ship that you can think of?  And hey, if this guy Kish is right and expects there to be retirements on the GOP side soon, can we expect a few Dems to drop out now if faced with the real possibility of having a Speaker who might be a little more conservative than they can handle.  Daydreaming.

PS… OPEN THREAD for any news you find of interest. Because its a weekend and anything can happen.
