This is an excellent example of the kind of thing that usually goes unseen. Nelson is failing to act to stop this and that is just as bad as proposing “big government” programs. We need people that will go to Washington to oppose government mandates not dream up new ones!
TALLAHASSE, Fla. / As the U.S. Senate debates legislation to fund the government for the remainder of the year, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is leading an effort to include Representative Tom Rooney’s (R-FL) amendment to defund the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) numeric nutrients mandate that will hurt our economy and cost jobs. Unfortunately, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) has chosen not to sign on to these efforts. While the Obama administration moves forward with this job-destroying mandate, Nelson stays silent and won’t press Harry Reid to include the Rooney amendment in any upcoming bill.
“The EPA’s mandate will be disastrous for Florida’s businesses and families. Unfortunately, while Florida Republicans like Marco Rubio and Tom Rooney are acting to halt these job-destroying regulations, Bill Nelson has stayed silent. Instead of standing on the side of Florida families and pushing his fellow Democrats to act, Nelson has chosen to stand with President Obama and Harry Reid as they pursue policies and regulations that are taking our country in the wrong direction,” said Trey Stapleton, Republican Party of Florida Communications Director. “Floridians can’t afford six more years of Bill Nelson watching as unelected bureaucrats in Washington hurt job creation and take Florida’s economy backwards.”
