The particularly troubling thing about Trump is that there are often more than a few nuggets of truth buried in his rhetoric. He is absolutely right that Ted Cruz’s birth status is a potential liability should he become the candidate. Cruz missed a real opportunity during their exchange over the issue last night. When Trump vowed not to sue him over the issue, Cruz should have challenged him to do so, not as an opponent challenges an adversary to make a move, but as a challenge to do something right for the American public and the Republican Party. You see, Trump not only has the resources to make the challenge, he has standing.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if Trump were given the opportunity to do something that is in the country’s best interest but not necessarily in his own. What better litmus test is there for a president?
