We were discussing off line this interesting bit of information provided by The Gawker. As unfortunate as it may be, it seems that the only place you can turn to to find information critical of the left is the tabloids as the John Edwards episode proved.
It seems that Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, or how ever she is styling herself this week, has been carrying on a “close friendship” with NY Times publisher Arthur “Pinch” Sulzberger (in this context his nickname is most appropriate) and the NY Times refuses to comment on the subject. Sez them: “we don’t report stuff like this, regardless of the people involved.” To which a person who hasn’t been in a coma for the better part of a year would ask, why didn’t that standard apply to John McCain when the NYT ran its scurrilous front page insinuation of adultery? And why wouldn’t they cover this as the NYT will be covering Ms. Whatever’s actions in Washington when Governor Paterson (boy is it ever a metaphor that he is blind) appoints her a Senator.
Anyway, we were trying to come up with cute titles for the post but all we could agree on was that the word “schtupped” had to be used in some form or fashion. (I was going to use “Pinch me, I think I’m dreaming” but it was met by stony silence.) As it turns out the word itself seems quite appropriate as that describes the new senator’s relationship with Sulzberger, it describes Sulzberger now that someone has written about his extracurricular activities, and it describes the NYT editors trying to defend this crap. Schtupped. All of them.
So have a great Christmas. Enjoy the open thread. Feel free to create your own titles that include “schtupped.”
