Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse is one of the most candid politicians in America, a quality he demonstrates regularly on his Twitter account.
Check out his response to an unhinged tweet from Minority Leader Chuck Schumer:
Betsy DeVos would single-handedly decimate our public education system if she were confirmed. I will vote "No" & I will do it proudly.

Single-handedly decimate?! If u think one fed official could do that, will u join me in legislation to send k12 Ed back to states & parents? https://t.co/DfuwLPbrd1

Sasse is absolutely right. One problem with centralized government is that it raises the stakes of who is to administer it. Democrats either fail to recognize this or are willing to gamble with the consequences.
The less power the people cede to the government, the better. The less power local government cedes to distant government, the better. At least some politicians such as Sen. Sasse are still able to recognize that.
