Awesome: Rand Paul verbally aborts Planned Parenthood

Like most other conservatives, I was ecstatic when Rand Paul seized control of the abortion debate, forcing the Democrats and [mc_name name=’Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’W000797′ ] to admit that they are in favor of late-term abortion.

So I was once again very pleased to see Rand Paul use excellent messaging and destroy the very argument for Planned Parenthood’s continued existence. Check out the interview he had on Fox News this morning:

Transcript:

[mc_name name=’Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’P000603′ ]: I’m going to do everything I can to stop it. I’m also going to bring this to the American public.

I think Republicans have run away from the abortion issue. This is baby parts we’re talking about.

We’re talking about doctors who are trying to preserve certain parts, not crushing them, while they crush a baby’s head in the rest of the procedure, and then they’re going to sell the body parts. This is gruesome, and I think most Americans, even those who think they’re pro-choice, would be aghast to know that we’re selling body parts, and that they’re cavalierly sipping wine, eating brie and talking about selling body parts.

It’s unconscionable and I’m going to do everything I can to stop it…

Everything Planned Parenthood does other than abortion is done by community health clinics. There is no reason in the world to have Planned Parenthood other than abortion, no tax payer dollar should go to it because they are indirectly, if not directly, paying for abortion. All of the stuff that Planned Parenthood says they do for people it can be done through community health clinics which have gotten a ton of money in the last few years. We should stop all funding for Planned Parenthood.

There you have it. Now there is no excuse for anyone to vote against defunding Planned Parenthood. We don’t need them to provide services for women. Their purpose is to perform abortions. Even though the Hyde Amendment exists, it is useless. While drafted to prevent taxpayer funding of abortion, it fails basic accounting mechanisms because money is fungible. In other words, all Planned Parenthood has to do is shift money around.

While defunding Planned Parenthood should be an open and shut case, leadership may not be willing to pursue it. That is why Paul is willing to shutdown the highway bill if his defunding amendment is not added.

Call your members of Congress and tell them to vote in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood!
