For those of us who don’t listen anymore to Sean Hannity or disavow any knowledge of him after his election love fest with Donald Trump,we missed Hannity’s latest meltdown Thursday afternoon.
Convinced that Trump’s free fall in all the latest polls is not the fault of Trump suffering from an acute case of diarrhea of the mouth, Hannity has declared open war on Ted Cruz and the GOP leadership for their failure to support the Gilded Toad. How dare their refusal to no longer commit political suicide? How dare Cruz stand for principle over political expediency? How dare Cruz place the integrity of his family over an egomaniac?
From Hannity’s radio show on Thursday afternoon:
“If in 96 days Trump loses this election, I am pointing the finger directly at people like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham and John McCain and John Kasich and Ted Cruz, if he won’t endorse, and Jeb Bush and everybody else that made promises they’re not keeping,” Hannity said on his program Wednesday.
“Because I have watched and witnessed to the point of incredible frustration, I have watched these Republicans be more harsh towards Donald Trump than they’ve ever been in standing up to Barack Obama and his radical agenda that had doubled the debt, that has resulted in a 51-year low in home ownership in this country, the percentage of homes that are owned by Americans, the lowest labor participation rate since the 70s and that has led to millions and millions of Americans in poverty and on food stamps and out of the labor force,” he added.
“They did nothing … all these phony votes to repeal and replace Obamacare, show votes so they can go back and keep their power and get reelected. Sorry, you created Donald Trump, all of you because of your ineffectiveness, because of your weakness, your spinelessness, your lack of vision, your inability to fight Obama. Your fear of being blamed for a government shutdown and I’m getting a little sick and tired of all of you,” Hannity said.
It’s been painful enough watching members of the GOP leadership abandon or lose all their principles, as well as the approximately 40% of the supposed conservative base throw their support behind a circus clown/reality TV star who couldn’t give a damn about the Republican party.
But to watch a conservative radio host who for years berated Republicans for abandoning their principles, yet showed what a complete hypocrite looks like in throwing all his political weight behind Donald Trump who has no principles, is nothing short of totally pathetic.
Hannity is partially correct that the GOP leadership helped create the disaster that is Donald Trump, and they shoulder much of the blame for the mess that has become this election cycle. But apparently Hannity fails to see how complicit he was in creating the monster that is Trump, and refuses to shoulder any responsibility for this.
