History has repeatedly shown what motivated people can do to change the governments they live under. Our Declaration of Independence boldly declares that “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” However, “the governed” must be active and informed or they simply become the sheep led by the whims of a charismatic leader. Many have short-term success in keeping the power of government reined in by the people. http://ShofarGov.comis offering a solution that could do so for generations.
We make use of computers and the Internet to take on the paper form. Initially this sounds like something that many are doing, but our approach is quite different, just as our goals are quite different. We have a functional tool to electronically handle forms, online and offline, to edit, store, and communicate the data and images to people and other computers. Our ambitious goal is to manage every type of government form, from federal to state and local agencies, at no taxpayer expense.
The savings to the taxpayer is enormous, as detailed online, but our purpose is accountability. Today, if I want to know what the government knows about me, the burden is on me to find out. If I go to any effort to do this I cast suspicion on myself. Our technology opens the door to islands of information, such as licenses, tax information, etc. As a citizen I would know exactly what is on each island about me, and who accessed this information. This body of knowledge could be a powerful tool for the individual and the activist.
This tool could also be used to put into the hands of people massive amount of raw public data about government activities. Individuals and groups could then develop their own tools to allow examination and presentation of that data. The balance of power shifts back towards the people.
What gives us our strength is that we are not a single organization but a coalition of individuals and small groups united via technology. There is no central authority to corrupt. Our power is in the people. We are not funded by the government with all of the strings attached, but funded by those who cherish freedom. Our technology is not “all things to all people”, but like a blank sheet of paper, the vehicle to transmit and store information of any type. Our technology is simple and easy to understand for the user and software developer. Our technology is very fast and efficient, requiring minimal hardware and therefore minimal expense.
We need funds, we need people, and we need them today. The funds we need are in the thousands so anyone can help. The people we need are the liaisons and the technical minds. Please take some time to review our website at http://ShofarGov.com. We are a work in progress with a goal of being fully functional by Election Day with an impact far greater than the next two to four years.
Thomas Jefferson said “Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. Do not be too severe upon their errors, but reclaim them by enlightening them. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, Judges, and Governors, shall all become wolves.” Our goal is to enlighten, to awaken the people. We pray that this is a shared goal.
