Where Has My Country Gone?

I feel as though the country that I once knew is gone.  I know thats a crazy thing to say, but it feels like it is slipping away.  It might be due to the fact that I’m not 20 anymore and I am responcible for alot more than just myself.

I entered the Marine Corps reserve when I was 18, back in 2000.  Life was cut and dry, black and white, right and wrong.  There was never any change, the joke was that the Marines were kinder and gentler now.  I never belived that, Marine Corps history was a major foundation of boot camp.  You knew who A.A. Cunningham was, who Chesty Puller was, who Carlos Hathcock was, and who Archibald Henderson was.  It was an engraved part of your being as a Marine.

This all brings me to where we are today.  I know that our country is not perfect, because we, as people; are not perfect.  However, republic democracy is the only one God centered governemental system.  Without god we have nothing.  Our country was designed to be state run, without a monstrocity centralized government.  A state senator or representative was to be a part time job.  The states gave the central government to power, not vice versa like it is today.  I truely belive that because we are never taught this “history” in our schools that it is easy for someone to “change” the way our coutry is to be.  Because it is not an “engraved” part of our being as Americans, “progression” happens.

That is all for now,

Ruck
