Don't Forget Why You Are There

The occasion of the lame duck session inspired me. This is an open letter to all of the freshman (especially the freshmen) and incumbent US Congressmen/Congresswomen and Senators –

Esteemed members of Congress:

Congratulations on a hard-fought and won campaign. For those of you who did not have an election, consider yourselves lucky. Consider yourselves lucky because you had the benefit of being able to learn from the electorate what is important to us without having the pressure of an election. All of you must take this lesson to heart, but for you freshman, and don’t let me beat around the bush….REPUBLICAN freshmen….you were sent to Washington with a specific purpose.

You were sent to Congress to do the following: repeal Obamacare, keep the tax rates at GWB levels or lower, defeat Cap & Trade legislation, ban earmarks, keep us safe from terrorism, keep government out of the way of job growth, and legislate ethically.

Do these things and you keep your job. Don’t do these things, and we will fire you. It’s that simple. Please do not think that we will continue to play the pendulum game of Democrats and Republicans. We the People are done with that game. Republicans, you were rebuked in 2006 and 2008. Bush and McCain were light progressives. If you revert back to these policies you will succeed in driving the voters away and destroying your party. This is not a threat. This is the truth. The voters have woken up. You should too.
