Is McCain lying about being a POW?

There’s an agit-prop organization called The ALK that claims they have proof that John McCain was only a POW for 3 months instead of 5½ years. McCain was apparently interviewed by a newspaper in Thailand in 1972 when he was supposed to be in the Hanoi Hilton.
