The Kaine Scorecard..Felons 3,933 Heroes 0

You may have read the post a couple of weeks ago by Soren Dayton(h/t) in regards to military absentee ballots in Virginia. If you did not, read it here. He states:

——————————————————————————-

“The Virginia State Board of Elections argued in their most recent filing that they have no legal obligation to send out military absentee ballots in a timely manner. Restated, the State of Virginia has argued in a federal court filing that they can legally send out absentee ballots to active duty soldiers the day before an election. Restated again, theDemocratic Chairwoman of the Virginia State Board of Election (appointed by the Democratic National Committee Chair Tim Kaine, in his capacity as Virginia Governor) Jean Cunningham just claimed a legal basis for massively raising the barrier to voting for soldiers at war.”

——————————————————————————–

It seems they claim since they are not legally obligated to send out absentee ballots in time to matter, why should they. Getting absentee ballots out on time to our brave men and women, fighting to preserve one of the very rights being denied themselves, would seem to me to be deserving of a more pro-active approach than the “you can’t make me” approach. Maybe the same sort of pro-active approach that DNC Chair and part-time Governor Tim Kaine takes with convicted felons.  Somehow, I guess during those plane trips to and from Democratic fundraisers, he managed to sign off on 3,933 voting rights restoration applications. WTVR 6 in Richmond reports:

——————————————————————————-

“The only way a convicted felon can cast a ballot in Virginia is by having the governor restore his or her voting rights.

According to the Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth, since 2006 when Tim Kaine became Governor, he’s restored the voting rights of 3,933 convicted felons. That’s more than former Governor Mark Warner (3,486).

And more than Governors Gilmore(238), Allen (460), Wilder (427), Baliles (853), and Robb (1,180) combined.”

It is not my intent to debate voting rights restoration, I really haven’t thought that one through as maybe I should have, but I would love to see that same sort of fight put forth for our soldiers.

If you’re able, help put an end to this nonsense. Help out Bob McDonnell here.
