Fruit salad, seriously?!?!

Dr. Ben Carson’s comment about “fruit salad” during Thursday night’s GOP debate sparked a social media frenzy.

When asked about selecting a Supreme Court justice, Carson replied:

As president, I would go through and I would look at what a person’s life has been. What have they done in the past, what kind of judgments have they made? What kind of associations do they have? That will tell you a lot more than an interview will tell you. The fruit salad of their life is what I will look at.

Fruit salad, seriously?!?!?

Twitter descended like a plague of fruit flies upon the comment. When asked, Dr. Carson said he was making reference to Jesus’ saying, “by their fruit you will know them.”   Fact checkers, snarkily, did confirm that this statement is found in the Gospel of Matthew.

Regardless of the ridicule, it’s good advice.

What we saw in the debate Thursday night was a reminder that all of the candidates, save one, have a lot of rotten political fruit in their personal salad bowls.

Donald Trump has been a player throughout his career in real estate and reality TV, buying and dealing for political favors. He donates to everyone and expects consideration from everyone in return.  That’s just the way it’s done. His ruling principle seems to be to manipulate the political process to achieve whatever is best for Trump.

Ted Cruz went to Washington with the best of intentions, stood his ground on Obamacare and other campaign promises, but when the time came to enter the presidential fray embraced the rotten tactics of slimy political operatives.   Sen. Cruz appears to be a man of principle but also a man of questionable political gamesmanship.

Marco Rubio has spent the campaign running from his record on immigration rather than owning up to the lessons he should have learned when he got burned by the progressive political puppeteers. Sen. Rubio has shown himself to be intelligent and knowledgeable, but lacking in wisdom to see through corrupt opponents.

John Kasich has been a politician his entire career, except when he took some time to use those connections to get a well-paying job at the now failed Lehman Brothers. He did some good as a congressman and governor, but his frame of reference and his life experiences are all from within the world of politics.  Perhaps that’s why he thinks things aren’t so bad.

These four men are all too close to the problem to be part of the solution.

Ben Carson is the only candidate for president who is not part of the political establishment.

His “fruit salad” includes a life of dealing with complex issues and solving problems that had never been solved before. He is a man of unquestionable integrity.  He has now taken his great intellect and focused it like a laser beam on the issues facing our nation and our world.  His goal is to save the blessings of America for our children and grandchildren.

Einstein famously said, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

My fellow Americans! Break away from the insanity of repeatedly ordering the same old rotten fruit salad with each election.  Avoid Trump, Cruz, Rubio and Kasich.  This applies to Clinton and Sanders as well.

Order the only new, fresh and politically untainted fruit salad that is on the menu of this year – Dr. Ben Carson!

The power brokers in the government, the political parties and the media don’t want you to even consider Dr. Carson. They are doing their best to ignore and marginalize him.  He is a threat to their cozy little political world. They have forgotten that their job is to serve the people, not enhance their prestige or unethically line their pockets.

Dr. Carson is now leading the people, by his very campaign, to clean out what is rotten in our political system and restore honor to the government and government service. He will help us reclaim a government of, for and by the people.

As Dr. Carson told Megyn Kelly (2/24/15):

I feel deep in my heart that what Thomas Jefferson said was true. He said the people of America would become less vigilant, they would not be paying attention, and as a result, the government would grow.  It will metastasize.  It will infiltrate, and it would dominate.  But he said just before we turn into another form of government the people of America would awaken, would recognize they were being manipulated, would rise up and would retake control.  I believe now is the time to do that.

If it takes a crazy comment about fruit salad to wake America up, so be it!

Thomas Jefferson knew the time would come for the people to rescue America from a domineering and corrupt government. That time is now!

Ben Carson is leading the way.
