I was wrong -- Assets Do Count . . . Thank you

. . . at least when applying for government handouts.  That’s what I just found out when I filed my taxes via TurboTax and when checking to see if all was well with the tax return, I was greeted with suggestions from TurboTax (which are really ads from both the state and federal government) that, based on my return, I should apply for up to $189 in grocery money per month (i.e., food stamps), a free Obamaphone and free service, and a discount from gas and electric companies.  The fact that I jave a condo in an architecturally significant complex and both a Roth and a retirement IRA are not factors in obtaining the government handouts.  No wonder so many are on the dole — keep the taxable income low enough and you’re entitled.  Assets don’t matter!
