The Plumely Doctrine

Plumely rule#1 You do not have to agree or go along with someone just because they are articulate and persuasive when they make their case. You do what you think is right.

We were being told by very intelligent people like George Will, Charles Krauthammer, and Karl Rove that the push to try and defund Obamacare was political suicide. They made very cogent and persuasive arguments. Many times, I did not have a response to those arguments.  I just knew what I believed to be right. As a result, I chose (as we all did) to stick to my postition that standing on principle and for what is good would communicate itself through action.  It has.

Plumely rule#2  Don’t defer happiness to a later date. Be happy now.

I was being told by Karl Rove and others, this was not the right time to fight. We need to save our energy for a fight at a later date. In otherwords, there will be  a day when you will be happier and stronger to do what you want and need to do. I knew that if I was ever going to fight it had to be now. I knew as we all did that I would not be any stronger or happier in the future than I am right now. Also, standing on principle and for what is truly good would not only bring me happiness in the future, but would also give me added joy right now.

Plumely rule#3 Life it is not a game. It is not chess. It is not checkers. It is life.

Karl Rove and others told us we needed to think about the “long game. ” It was all about manuevering, and plotting. We were given Sun Tzu like advice to “Let Obamacare collapse on it’s own.”  All I saw was  evidence of people losing their livlihoods and Obamacare hasn’t even gone into effect. Obamacare is no game to me. It is about  yours and my life. And right now, that life to put it in Obama’s words, is being “messed with”.

Those who succeed in the life are the ones who are not “playin”. I have always felt our beef is with Obama’s supporters. The government shutdown is a clear message to Obama supporters.  A good many of them are Govt. employees.

We tried being civil by attempting an exchange of ideas with them. We got the back of their hand. We tried to reach them by finding commonalities with them. They said there were none and that they hated us. We tried to sit back and let them come to their own conclusions about how bad their guy was, they ignored the facts and instead they have made sport of trashing  me, you and everything we love about this country.  So now the message is, we are done playing games with you.

Stand tall Conservatives! Ride hard and shoot straight! As of right now we are winning. When this is over I promise you there will be “whiskey for the men and beer for the horses.”
