Andrew Sullivan epic fail (again)

We see today that Andrew Sullivan has experienced another Palingasim over the potential for some seedy detail about what a horrible person Gov. Palin is and if elected to the Vice Presidency will damage the American nation to its’ very foundation.

Todd Palin’s former business partner files an emergency motion to have his divorce papers sealed. Oh God. –Andrew Sullivan 9/5/2008, The daily Dish.

Apparently, former business partner to the Palins, Scott Richter was interested in protecting HIS privacy [emp mine] from the national media. (h/t Ed Morrissey at Hot Air)

While the left is trumpeting this earth shaking grasping at straws revelation and how it will show all of us religion and gun clingers how McCain has pulled the wool over our eyes I looked no further then Salon.com for proof that they are indeed desperate; for anything.

Now, obviously, this is the National Enquirer saying this. But, to quote myself, from a July post about the paper’s reporting on John Edwards:I know what you’re thinking: Why even bother with anything printed by the Enquirer, a supermarket tabloid you probably think of as the kind of “newspaper” that focuses on rumors that Elvis Presley is alive — and leading a band of rampaging space aliens? … That’s not really the Enquirer’s niche, though. It gets confused with publications like the defunct Weekly World News, but in fact the Enquirer is surprisingly good at reporting on these kinds of stories, and it has a decent track record with them. It was the Enquirer that published the photo of Donna Rice sitting on Gary Hart’s lap. It was the Enquirer that broke the story of Rush Limbaugh’s addiction to painkillers. And we all know how the Edwards story turned out. – The War Room by Alex Koppelman

Yes, we do know how the Edwards story turned out. But these sorts of stories only work when there is truth to the allegation.

So, in the spirit of proving how epic a fail this is, our good friends over at The Smoking Gun accessed the State of Alaska court records and found……..

Wait for it: NOTHING!!

A TSG review of the 98-page file shows that the Palins are only mentioned in Richter’s sealing request. According to the filing, Richter wanted the documents deemed confidential in a bid to cloak details about his home, workplace, and phone numbers because “reporters and news agencies” were using that information to contact him. Richter, a 39-year-old contractor, noted that he is “friends and land owners in a remote cabin” with the Palins and, as a result, journalists were intruding on the “cabin life and private life” of him and his 11-year-old son. – The Smoking Gun

Thank you Andrew Sullivan for playing the how partisan can we appear today game. I look forward to your next post, likely titled “I want to have Obama’s baby”.
