The Arena has asked us to recommend books for the outgoing President and the incoming one. My selections can be found here.
Readers may rightly wonder whether the President of the United States should be expected to plow through a gargantuan reading list like the one I recommended for Barack Obama. My response is that I wanted to make sure to pick out books that would be appropriate and necessary for a President to read, books that would provide a President some serious inspiration in their own way as the President sought to handle affairs of state.
Of course, if this rather large book selection manages to keep Barack Obama too busy to do things like, say, expand government to gargantuan proportions, I suppose that would be a side benefit. All hail bibliophilia and the consequences that arise from it.
