Wasn’t it Obama who said:
“It’s time to better protect the American people and our values by bringing swift and sure justice to terrorists…”
So why is it that a year later, Obama is not just delaying “swift and sure justice to terrorists”… but bringing it to a screeching halt?
In a filing this week in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Justice Department said that “no charges are either pending or contemplated with respect to al-Nashiri in the near future.”
“… no charges are either pending or contemplated”? What the hell have they been doing for the past year? What is more infuriating is, “The statement” was, “tucked into a motion to dismiss a petition by Nashiri’s attorneys. Just another bold example of Obama’s other vow of “transparency” and further evidence that his pledge for “swift and sure justice” for the terrorists who killed 17 American Sailors and injured 39 others, meant about as much as his promises to try those who conspired to murder nearly 3,000 Americans on 9-11in a New York federal court and his Executive Order to close Guantanamo within a year.
Almost a year ago to the eve of November’s mid-term elections, Eric Holder announced to the world the Obama administrations brilliant idea to try the self-proclaimed mastermind of the 9-11 attack, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, in a Manhattan federal courtroom only blocks away from the murder site..
“Today’s announcement marks a significant step forward in our efforts to close Guantánamo and to bring to justice those individuals who have conspired to attack our nation and our interests abroad,” Mr. Holder said.
And wasn’t it Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg who was committed to preventing the trials of these terrorists from being held a few blocks away from Ground Zero for “security reasons”… the same Mayor Michael R. Bloomburg who fails to see the same “security” risk in building a mosque the same short distance away?… the same Michael R. Bloomberg who said just two months prior he was for it… before he was against it?:
”It is fitting that 9/11 suspects face justice near the World Trade Center site where so many New Yorkers were murdered,”
In a speech to a group of muslims at a Ramadan event this past Tuesday regarding their intent to build the mosque, Mr. Bloomberg said:
… the only question we face is: how do we honor that hallowed ground?
During his speech on May 29, 2009 regarding his decisions to close Guantanamo and to try the 9-11 terrorists in a New York federal court, Obama said:
… there remains the question of detainees at Guantánamo who cannot be prosecuted yet who pose a clear danger to the American people.
Well, Mr. President… Mayor Bloomberg… Might I suggest a bit of consistancy in your positions on serious issues regarding the ongoing threats to our Country… or making good on your promises to “better protect the American people” and to do “everything humanly possible to prevent another terrorist attack“… ? Better yet, how about just one honest attempt to answer your own damn questions?
