The Catholic vote

My wife came across this video on the Catholic vote that I felt merited sharing as it is a powerful and compelling reminder of the stakes we face on Tuesday.

See the video here.

The Catholic Church’s teaching is that it is a grave moral sin to vote for a pro-abortion candidate because he/she is pro-abortion, but that a Catholic may vote for the abortion candidate if he/she does so for other reasons AND there are proportionate reason(s) for doing so. Proportionate reasons is cited by many Catholic Democrats in various forms, or prudential concerns as to the best way to protect life.

Proportionate reasons to a “grave moral issue” such as abortion however, are a very high bar indeed, that only a well informed individual may make out of a need of conscience.
