Listening to Obama speak, and seeing the way the MSM fails to challenge him on his chronic reversals on every issue, I am reminded of Will Ferrell in Zoolander as he exclaimed, “I feel like I am taking crazy pills!”
Today Obama states, “I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”
Obama threw down against McCain and stated that the surge did not work. McCain criticized Obama for stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the surge worked. Obama gave interviews on national television denying the surge worked. He tried to stay consistent to his statements that it could not work. He tried to attribute the success in Iraq to other sources. Now, instead of giving credit where credit is due, as he comes around to the position that John McCain has held from the start and he did not, Obama asserts “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.” WAKE UP CALL, MEDIA!
This duplicitous lie was well planned. According to the New York Post, Obama purged his web site of his long held position on the surge on July 14th, 2008. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/07/14/2008-07-14barackobamapurgeswebsitecritique_of.html?print=1&page=allAs the Daily News reports, Obama deleted his claim “The surge is not working.” But his web site reports he did oppose the surge on January 3, 2007 here
ABC News reported Obama’s refusual to acknowledge the surge worked [here].(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBO5s8NUOxw)
Obama met with Fox News July 28th here and while refusing to acknowledge his failure of judgment that the surge worked, attributing the success in Iraq to the Sunni Awakening, point blank refused to say “The surge worked” despite repeatedly being asked if he would assent to that view. Obama then claimed that nobody foresaw what could happen with the Awakening Councils, (unless of course you count John McCain and General Petraeus).
Is anybody buying Obama’s assertions on this?? Has Kool Aid got into the drinking water? Have we all skidooed into the Orwellian 1984 society? Nor is this the first blatant lie and reversal while refusing to acknowledge he changed position. I count at least 42 times he’s flipped on issues and refused to admit it before.
Like Ferrell said, I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
