…and I Now Resent You for Talking Me out of My Never-Cast-My-Vote-for-McCain Position

(Title references Ntrepid diary from nearly one year ago “…and I Reject Your Shallow Analysis of My Never-Cast-My-Vote-for-McCain Position” (1))

Before I go on, I’d like to invite (in a way that may be easily mistaken for urging strongly) the honorable John McCain to indefinitely suspend his Senate career in order to resume his 2008 general election presidential campaign.  The overly handled, mildly humble yet confident, genuine American hero nominee is far more tolerable than the arrogant Senator who seems to thrive on poking me in the eye.

“I think we ought to let Senator Clinton, who is obviously qualified and obviously will serve, get to work immediately,” (2)

The complete arrogance in both content and tone of the above statement to the press regarding Secretary of State designate Hillary Clinton after virtually nothing that could be confused with serious deliberations with the intent of providing a thorough vetting towards valuable “advise and consent” (i.e. doing his job) seems to come from some complex logic that most of us commoners simply cannot comprehend.  Something like:

“I’m a Senator and I know that I am obviously qualified.  Therefore, all Senators are obviously qualified.”

I’m sorry but being an unremarkable lawyer, a governor’s wife, a first lady, and being handed the senate seat from New Your designated to be whored out to Democrat Party royalty in no way qualifies one in an obvious manner any more than being listed as an attorney on any one of 88 pages of them in my local phone book.  Ironically, several decades of dealing with a lying, cheating spouse would be excellent qualifying experience for leading similar types  buried in the various levels of entrenched bureaucracy within the Department of State…if she was Republican.

Like a broken record (see also (3)), I’ll submit some of my favorite “obvious qualifications”.  For instance, the raving evaluation of her talents as a lawyer in the service of her government that stresses that she was not suitable for “any future position of public or private trust” (4) with some added detail:

“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.” (5)

More recently she further demonstrated her respect for the law and authority while testifying in the Travelgate investigation where her statements, under oath, were patently false (6).

I’m sure all of these demonstrated “obvious qualifications” will be very helpful when it comes to the oversight responsibilities of a Senate that takes all of their other duties so seriously.  She will surely give them the respect they deserve.

Thanks Senator.
