The recent Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire, aired on CNN, was a disaster. Not only were many significant questions not asked, but the moderator John King demeaned each of the candidates with a stupid question about his/her personal preference like “Elvis or Johnny Cash?” or “Dancing with the Stars or American Idol?”
This truly was a shameful display. And the unenlightened among us would say that it was just intended to “humanize” the candidates and King himself with a little levity. But at a time like this, we don’t need this kind of nonsense.
Or was it really intended to trivialize the candidates in a subconscious way?
Of course it was. After all the debate was broadcast on Republican-hating CNN.
Think about how the Media Left always treat Republicans and you see a pattern. Because these media people are very left-wing, very manipulative and very ignorant. For instance, they promote Al Gore’s ‘global warming’ theory as if it is truth. And they do that simply because GW is an anti-conservative way of thinking.
But one thing those media do very well is undermine any Republican or conservative at any time. It is in their genes and deep inside their college-educated brains.
It is not hard to do. If you have a position of power, even dim-witted people can demean their adversaries or enemies. It’s been done since time immemorial. You can caricature them, lie about them, misrepresent them and even ignore them. The only difference on CNN is that they do it at the highest level, out in the open, on national TV. So they ask insulting questions like “Coke or Pepsi?” and the Republicans are supposed to smile and play along.
Ha-ha-ha. Oh that John King. He is so funny.
One of the debaters – or all of them – should have stood up to King and dismissed his question. That would have made that debater a front-runner for the presidency, for standing up to the Stupid Media.
This King performance is how the Media Left operate, however. Because to them there is no truth, only opinions, which is a central tenet of socialism. And the opinions about conservatives are always bad and about liberals are always good. That is the only reason that Obama has any chance at re-election. Because if Obama were a Republican and the nation were in the shape it is in, he would have 18% approval ratings because the Media Left would be attacking him every minute of every day day.
But those media often misuse their power. Remember that Dan Rather’s career at CBS – and his entire legacy – was destroyed when his news program promoted the fake National Guard story about president Bush right before the 2004 election.
These kinds of anti-conservative subterfuges go on every day on every level, and often are never caught. Just look at ‘global warming’. It has never even been supported by a majority of evidence much less proof. Yet the Media Left have declared it the truth and continue to do so even after the enviro left stopped called it ‘global warming’ because it is so, well, cold!
Look at how those same media trumpeted every liberal attack on the American economy under Bush even in 2006 when the official unemployment rate was 4.5% (about as low as it technically can go) and the deficit was negligible. But those media echoed Democrats for saying five words over and over – “tax cuts for the rich”.
Yet when Obama botched the toast of Queen Elizabeth, these media hounds were giving every excuse – he was improperly prepared by his staff, the Queen should have played along, the band made a mistake. When candidate Obama said, even after a moment of thought, that he had campaigned in “57 states”, the media let it slip. And now that Obama policies are killing the whole country, they blame Bush while acting as if this (half) black president is so much smarter than the rest of us. Which he is not.
Here is a perfect example: Obama recently was asked about why companies are not hiring new workers. Since he has never worked in the private sector, it is hard to imagine he would have an answer. And he didn’t.
But he was lightning-quick with a response, which made him sound like a man in the know. Yet his answer was classic Obama – sounding very smart (style) but saying something that is completely bogus (no substance).
Here is what he said: “There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don’t go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate.”
So how is this classic Democrat double-speak?
Well consider ATMs. They are a result of private-enterprise capitalist technology. If you think about it, what we consider to be the simple computerized ATM is the result of thousands of years of thinking, from Ancient Greece to Europe to modern America. The very first “computer” in the world was the Antykythera Mechanism, found in the sea off of Grece. All of our modern technology is a result of millennia of Western thought.
Private business has been applying these technologies to become more efficient. And this efficiency is the thing that creates new ideas and new wealth and a growing economy. Yet Obama is implying that this automation and efficiency reduces employment.
This is nonsense. Because capitalism is a system of natural efficiency. After all, if a private company can make widgets with half the energy as before, it will do it. In fact, it has no choice. All modern economic processes and practices are more modern and efficient than they were just 50 years ago thanks to technological innovation. This creates growth. Period. Inefficiency creates stagnation. Imagine going to back to horses for farm work instead of big tractors. Productivity would plummet.
But then look at Obama’s Big Government philosophy and you have the complete opposite. Here is a startling fact from an article by Stephen Moore in the Wall Street Journal about public schools:
‘Where are the productivity gains in government? Consider a core function of state and local governments: schools. Over the period 1970-2005, school spending per pupil, adjusted for inflation, doubled, while standardized achievement test scores were flat. Over roughly that same time period, public-school employment doubled per student, according to a study by researchers at the University of Washington. That is what economists call negative productivity.’ (end of excerpt)
So as every aspect of our private economy was becoming more efficient – for instance ATMs were cutting costs by replacing tellers with machines as well as giving people the added convenience of widespread cash availability and 24/7 access – government was going the other way. And this is why Obama bungled the response to the question. Because he is a Big Government liberal.
Imagine a bank doubling the number of tellers and never using ATMs. It would go out of business. But government never goes out of business. It just goes bankrupt, as many states are bankrupt today and the federal government is broke.
So perhaps our wonderful media and genius president could start thinking seriously about making the nation better and not asking dumb questions like “Coke or Pepsi?”
