Another Dumb Republican 'Moderate'

Former Republican US senator from Wyoming Alan Simpson is at it again.

Simpson, a well-known ‘moderate’, long has been one of those politicians with a ready quip. He has made many comments that the media have lapped up. That is why he is a liberal Republican and hates conservatives, like all liberals do. Yet he has not seemed to have the same vitriol for Democrats or leftists. Why not?

Answer: Because he loves the Media Left attention and can’t say anything bad about liberals or they will ignore him.

Recently Simpson appeared on the Hardball show on MSNBC and exposed why we conservatives have so many problems with people like him. Here is how mediaite.com reported the story, with Simpson talking first to host Chris Matthews:

“We have homophobes in our party. That’s disgusting to me. We’re all human beings. We’re all God’s children. . . . I’m not sticking with people who are homophobic, anti-women – you know moral values while you’re diddling your secretary, while you’re giving a speech on moral values. Come on, get off of it.”

Matthews pleaded with Simpson “don’t stop” as he tried to regain his composure after laughing. Simpson also declared “I don’t think men legislators should even vote on the issue” of abortion. You never know what Simpson might say next, but at the very least he is a guaranteed unpredictable and entertaining interview. (end of excerpt)

Matthews’ reaction – and that of Matthews’ audience – is what Simpson adores. Oh, please senator, don’t stop! You’re just so funny! Please come back on my show to bash conservatives any time! But don’t dare bash liberals! Those are the rules for my show! Ha-ha-ha… You’re so funny!

And Simpson knows precisely what is going on. This is the type of sophistry that makes conservatives dislike Republicans like Simpson. He is more interested in bashing conservatives and getting media attention than in taking on the radical left in America.

So where does Simpson get the idea that conservatives are “homophobic, anti-women – you know, moral values while you’re diddling your secretary, while you’re giving a speech on moral values…” He needs to give us details rather than making these types of generalizations, in these weird, broken sentences. Who is running for office while having sex with his secretary and making those speeches? Certainly there may be anecdotal evidence about one person, but that is not enough to slander a whole group, which is really what he is doing.

“Anti-women”? Where does he think conservatives are “anti-women”? This is feminist propaganda. In fact it is a known statistic that the breakdown of the family and the decline in traditional marriage at the urging of the secular left and the feminist left since the 1960s has harmed tens of millions of women. It is known that single women and their children are many times more likely to be poor and to be victims of violence and crime than married women. So perhaps Simpson could talk about the “anti-women” policies of the left.

But not on Matthews’ show, of course.

Simpson tars conservatives for being “homophobic”. Yet we conservatives oppose homosexuals openly serving in the military because it will be disruptive and because it gives gays a privilege that no other group has – to bring their personal agenda into the military.

It is said that gays have served in the American military quietly since the American Revolution. Conservatives have no problems with that. They just had to keep their sexual orientation to themselves, just like all soldiers are expected to keep their personal agenda out of the military.

When Simpson said elsewhere in the Matthews interview that “I don’t think men legislators should even vote on the issue (of abortion)”, that really is from-the-hip, extremist rhetoric that takes the cake. This is despicable on so many levels that it is not worth discussing further. But it is the kind of radical talk that Democrats love to hear and to quote, especially from a “Republican”.

Now here is HBO entertainer Bill Maher who said on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show that Republican congressman Paul Ryan’s budget plan to make steep cuts in federal spending is to “screw the present for the future”.

Wow, what a revelation. Actually, Maher understands perfectly well, that that is exactly what Ryan’s plan is about, although Maher used extremist language. Because what Ryan is saying is that we can’t continue to hand out debt money today (“screw the present” in Maher’s words) in order that we can actually have a prosperous economic future. Because too much debt kills individuals, families, businesses and entire nations.

So indeed we need to have short-term pain (cuts) in order to have long-term gain. Perfect. A liberal finally understands economics.

What upsets people like Maher and Maddow, however, is that the people who will feel the pain from spending cuts today are people on the left who have been on the receiving end of government largess for decades, like overpaid and unnecessary government workers, those at National Public Radio and other bureaucracies like it, and tens of millions of the idle poor who have contributed zero to our economy yet have collected trillions in handouts.

Now here is another quote from Maher revealing another truth. He alleged that it is a fictional Republican view that “the lower taxes are, somehow magically the more revenue we have.”

Actually Mr. Maher, that is exactly what history has proven. And thank you for finally saying it; that lower taxes produce more economic activity and more revenues for the government. It is a fact, sir. That is what happened in both the 1920s and the 1980s. Throughout history, economies have flourished when taxes are low and they have stagnated when taxes are high. That is why even some European nations are cutting spending and taxes today and why even the International Monetary Fund is warning America about its debt.

Mediaite.com reported:

‘After spending nearly thirteen minutes venting about the Republicans, in the final few seconds, Maher simply concluded, “I don’t know what to say about these people Rachel, I hate them as much as you do.”’ (end of excerpt)

Gee, I thought Obama had called for a new era of civility? Isn’t it always leftists who run these No Hate programs in public schools and excoriate us about “bullying”?

Apparently civility is only for Republicans. And verbal “bullying” is acceptable for Democrats.

And since Maher certainly is a multi-millionaire, why doesn’t he just send in more money to the government to  help solve the debt, since he vehemently opposes lower taxes for the wealthy.

But don’t hold your breath for that one.
