Here is the opening paragraph from a recent AP story called ‘Report says too many whites, men leading military‘:
‘The U.S. military is too white and too male at the top and needs to change recruiting and promotion policies and lift its ban on women in combat, an independent report for Congress said Monday.
Seventy-seven percent of senior officers in the active-duty military are white, while only 8 percent are black, 5 percent are Hispanic and 16 percent are women, the report by an independent panel said, quoting data from September 2008.
One barrier that keeps women from the highest ranks is their inability to serve in combat units.’ (end of excerpt)
And on and on. The usual stuff. ‘An independent report…’ Yeah right… Probably prepared by somebody at Harvard.
Never is it mentioned that perhaps the most capable people in the military are white men who literally have “fought their way” up the ladder. In real combat, that is. Where women should never be allowed unless they want to serve in separate platoons and get each other killed.
No, job qualifications are not germane to the multicultural left that is always seeking “diversity” on racial, ethnic and sexual grounds. Just as those white Connecticut firefighters who studied hard to pass a promotion test were denied promotions simply because no blacks had passed the test. And four Supreme Court justices agreed that that was acceptable.
In Dayton, Ohio, the federal Department of Justice has forced the postponement of the hiring of new police officers because not enough blacks had passed the test. Under the previous requirements, candidates were required to get 66% on one part of the test and 72% on the other. Since no blacks passed, the numbers have been dumbed down to 58% and 63%.
Should the people of Dayton feel safer knowing that future cops may not even necessarily know what to do in an emergency?
No, but that is racial politics. Forget the actual job requirements or public safety. The racial quotas are the significant factor.
Said Dayton Fraternal Order of Police President, Randy Beane, “It becomes a safety issue for the people of our community. It becomes a safety issue to have an incompetent officer next to you in a life and death situation.”
Now here is Juan Williams, who is black, talking about the the ultra-liberal government-funded National Public Radio. Williams was dismissed from NPR in Autumn 2010 for saying he felt “nervous” when people in Islamic garb were on airplanes with him:
“I think when it comes to NPR’s decision to, without any reason, throw me out the door, I think that for them, especially for some of the people who created NPR, it’s an all-white operation… I think they acted very unfairly, and largely in a condescending manner,” Williams said of NPR’s firing him. “If you stop and think about some of the things that were said in the midst of that controversy, the idea that I should have a relationship with a psychiatrist or that I need a publicist to tell me what to say. It just suggests to my mind that they think that I was some sort of infantile mentality, or childlike person.” (end of excerpt)
Liberals treating a black person as “childlike”?
Of course. That is the liberal way. They treat everyone like children. Just talk to anyone from a communist country about how the government treats the people – like clueless children. Look at all the public service announcements here in the US from the government telling us this, that and the other thing – go out and exercise, have fun with your children, get a flu shot etc. It never stops. Nag, nag, nag…
Williams said that in his opinion NPR “felt they had never had much success” with black or hispanic journalists, and that they had had “more success with white women.”
Of course. White women? As in “left-wing feminists”?
Because the “white women” in the media/university complex are all left-wing feminists, many of them super-liberal anti-Christians like NPR’s Nina Totenberg, and they take precedence over everyone. No minorities, men etc. need apply.
So that explains why NPR is such a left-wing entity concerned with “diversity” everywhere else except in its own ranks.
But genuine diversity – diversity of thought – is taboo on the left. Only racial/sexual/ethnic diversity is considered important, and that only after the thought processes of the candidate is first clarified. No conservative blacks like Clarence Thomas need apply, or conservative women like Sarah Palin. One of the reasons Williams was booted from NPR was because he was a commentator on Fox News and was considered just slightly conservative.
And these lefties have ways to find out how you think before they hire you. That is how these media/university organizations maintain such ideological purity – because they use techniques to filter out opposing points of view and to find out how you really think, ways that would never be allowed in the military or at ExxonMobil.
By the way, 82% of the National Basketball Association is black, 67% of the National Football League is black. So where are the calls for more short white guys in those sports in the name of “diversity” even if the short white guys are not qualified?
Answer: There are no calls for “diversity” when blacks dominate. Or for “intellectual diversity” when liberals dominate, as in our media or universities.
Now consider the United States Senate. Only four blacks have served in the last 100 years, and the longest serving was Ed Brooke, a Republican from Massachusetts.
So if Democrats are so obsessed with racial equality in numbers, why is not 12% of the US Senate today black (12 senators out of 100) to match the 12% of the American population that is black. And why are not all those 12 black US senators Democrats since 95% of blacks vote Democrat?
Answer: Because when it comes to sharing power on the basis of race, white liberals want no part of it. They want diversity only in entities they do not control like the military, corporations, private business etc.
