The “official” unemployment rate fell to 8.9% in February.
So what. Big deal. Are we supposed to see 8.9% unemployment as a positive sign?
It is a disaster. Except under Big Government socialism…
What the Media Left will never tell you is that millions of people have simply given up looking for work and are no longer even counted. That is one reason that the unemployment number fell. This is a growing economic catastrophe in America. And it is completely unnecessary except that that is the way Obama wants it – millions on the government dole, permanently, so the Democrats can control them. This is how socialism always works. Look at history. Look at the sky-high unemployment rates in all socialist nations. It is irrefutable.
If all these “discouraged” people were included, and if all the “underemployed” people were included we would have the grim reality, like 20% unemployment.
And by the way, the 192,000 jobs that were said to have been created in February were created only because the lower Bush tax rates were extended. If the Democrats had had their way and the Bush rates were allowed to expire on December 31, the “official” unemployment rate would be 11% today.
In March 2007, under Bush, the unemployment rate was 4.5%. Now here is an excerpt from foxnews.com from Summer 2006, when Republicans controlled the White House and the both houses of Congress. This reminds us of how the economy was performing under Bush, and about which Democrats had only rampant criticism of “tax cuts for the rich” no matter how good the economy was. Note that our deficit this year is $1.65 trillion. Note the italicized comments:
WASHINGTON — President Bush is crediting his tax cuts for new deficit figures that are far lower than earlier White House estimates, but the red ink is expected to climb again next year and the longer-term outlook is more bleak.
White House figures released Tuesday estimate the federal deficit for the 2006 budget year ending Sept. 30 will be $296 billion – much better than the $423 billion Bush predicted in February but only a slight improvement over last year’s $318 billion.
…”These tax cuts left nearly $1.1 trillion in the hands of American workers and families and small business owners. And they used this money to help fuel an economic resurgence that’s now in its 18th quarter,” Bush said.” Economic growth fueled by tax relief has sent our tax revenues soaring.”
Democratic critics countered that Bush was celebrating figures that still represent the fourth largest deficit in U.S. history. The surge in taxes paid by corporations and upper-bracket taxpayers, they added, is proof that the current economic recovery is tilted in favor of the wealthy.
“Let’s not boast about a $300 billion deficit,” said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. “Any statistic you look at recognizes the rich in America are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer and the middle class is getting squeezed.”‘ (end of excerpt)
No, senator Reid, the poor are getting poorer under Obamanomics. You can’t blame Bush any more. Even 192,000 jobs is not going to fix anything. We need 192,000 jobs every single month for ten years to fix the economy. It ain’t gonna happen under Obama policies. Once the Bush tax rates expire, the economy will sink.
Look at the collapsed cities like Detroit and Cleveland, with all the poorest people in America. Look at the collapsed economies in black inner-city America? Who runs those cities lock, stock and barrel?
Answer: Democrats, that’s who. That is why they have collapsed.
Meanwhile gasoline prices are going through the roof because Obama is blocking domestic energy production while taking the side of instability in places like Egypt, cheering on the rioters. Higher energy prices will eventually manifest themselves in higher unemployment, rest assured.
And the housing market is still in a depression. And the national debt is spiking every day. And manufacturing is being forced out of the United States by radical environmentalism.
So what is Obama going to do about all this?
He is going to tout a fake 8.9% number and pile on more debt. And push a big health-care plan on us that is going to smother our businesses. And he is going to give us government-subsidized energy like windmills that will push electricity prices up sharply through supply-and-demand shortages.
And the Media Left will report gleefully on some fake unemployment numbers to make it look like everything is fine. It is not. Our future is in serious jeopardy.
Obama’s mountain of debt has worked largely to shore up unions and public-employee unions, which is what his 2009 stimulus plan did and his GM/Chrysler bailout did. The same unions who are protesting the loss of their golden hammocks in Wisconsin.
Why weren’t our roads and bridges repaired with almost $800 billion in stimulus so that our nation could start on the road to recovery?
Because Obama couldn’t care less about roads and bridges. He cares about funneling more and more of the nation’s wealth to his cronies and is praying that the media can cover up the Big Poverty that is newly becoming part of the American fabric. The poverty that is not reflected in any way in even a dismal 8.9% unemployment. A poverty that is growing every day.
Meanwhile, Chevy, which is part of General Motors and is still owned by the government, sold a whole 281 of its highly-touted Volt electric vehicles in February. This dismal sales figure came after massive enviro/media hype about the car. And you can rest assured that the buyers were “straw buyers” like rich environmentalists out to pump up the Volt’s image.
This will be another appendage of the Obama Poverty Culture – whole companies making products that people don’t want and that require huge government subsidies even for the few that are sold.
NASCAR stock-car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. really missed the boat when he said that “the technology isn’t there yet” with the Volt. He is wrong. The technology sure is there. It’s been around for more than 100 years. The electric car was first introduced around 1902. It never has worked or sold in the market because it is flawed at its core. It is the “wrong use” for valuable and expensive electricity.
Just like Obama is the “wrong president” for our country.
