Congressional Black Cockeyes Visit Cuba

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), which is 100% Democrat, recently paid a visit to Castro in Cuba. They came back impressed and obviously are preparing a push to ease some restrictions on travel, trade and communication between Cuba and the US, which president Obama favors.

Representative Laura Richardson of California even remarked that Castro had asked, “How can we (Cuba) help president Obama?”

Anyone who has studied liberalism knows that these congresspeople and millions of other Democrats in America suffer from Leftist Dementia Syndrome under which good people are demonized, communist dictators are portrayed as goodhearted saviors, and the Berlin Wall is seen as a symbol of order that kept the people tucked safely in their state, away from worldly temptation and capitalist evil.

Obviously cockeyed, these Congressional Black Cockeyes were quite happy with Castro. “He wanted to know more about Dr. King,” said congressman Bobby Rush of Chicago, who then added: “I told president Castro that in my household he (Castro) is known as the ultimate survivor.”

Listen to congresswoman Barbara Lee of California: “(Castro) was energetic… engaging… he lived in a house of modest means… it was a very moving meeting… he was taking notes… he asked us to send more information about Dr. King…”

Who was she visiting, Mr. Rogers?

These members of the CBC are radical ideologues, but under American freedom they are at liberty to hold the views they do. These are the types of people who are the first to sympathize with a dictator as he is rising, who spread the dictator’s message, who ease whole nations into the dictator’s tyranny and then are rewarded with special privileges while the rest of the people suffer unspeakable loss.

Communists are known to employ what are known as “useful idiots” to spread their message.  Such idiots might be assumed to be people like Lee, Richardson and Rush who present the views of people like Castro as helpful to the common good. But in fact Lee, Richardson and Rush are acting in a type of kabuki theater shadow play with Castro in order to convince the real “useful idiots” – millions of Americans – that communism is a harmless alternative to American democratic capitalism.

Did it ever occur to Bobby Rush or Barbara Lee that Castro easily has access to 50 years’ worth of information on Martin Luther King, that books and DVDs are available worldwide?

Of course it did. It’s hard to think that they might be dumb enough to think otherwise, but then again, they are Democrats. In any event, Rush was manipulating the potemkin conversation with Castro to impress the real audience of useful idiots – the people who live in Rush’s congressional district – into thinking that Castro actually cares about Martin Luther King. And about them too.

He does not.

Richardson continued: “For people who seem to think that people in Cuba don’t have shoes, don’t have jobs, don’t have ice cream. These people are living, and working and participating… in fact some were even were in a better situation that in some portions of my district…”

Could that be a reflection on your leadership, congresswoman Richardson, even if it were true? Why are you so un-curious about your own neighbors’ circumstances? Why is it that your constituents have been voting Democrat for decades and are continuing to suffer poverty, violence and failure and refusing to see any alternative?

Welcome to the world of Barack Obama. This is the far-left universe that conservatives warned about. And these CBC members are extremists who truly are disposed to totalitarian thinking.

Castro came to power in Cuba in 1959 overthrowing a corrupt, strongman named Fulgencio Batista. Promising reform, Castro did what all communists do and that was to seize absolute power, of which he has not conceded one inch in 50 years. Cuba, once moderately prosperous for a third-world nation, has spiraled downward into destitution and total decay under Castro’s rule. Whole blocks of buildings right in the heart of the capital city of Havana are crumbling from neglect.

Compare Castro to authoritarian governments who allied themselves with the United States against communism, with relentless criticism from the same American leftists who praise Castro. Nations like South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Chile were controlled for decades by military governments in order to prevent communist takeover. Yet at the same time that these authoritarians were protecting their nations against totalitarians like Castro, they were nurturing free-market capitalist economies which ultimately can never co-exist with oppression. And when those military governments finally gave way to free elections, those nations became not only democracies but some of the most prosperous countries on earth.

Compare this to Castro’s Cuba or to any other communist nation. All communist countries spiral down into destitution, imprisonment, torture and murder because communism is a corrupt ideology run by incompetent and hateful people. Communism has given way to freedom only when its target nations have hit rock bottom as did the Soviet Union and its satellites in Eastern Europe, without food or jobs or hope. Then those nations are left to their own devices, often suffering years of deprivation after communism destroyed their infrastructures and murdered or chased away all the productive people. Which is why the Berlin Wall came into being: In order to prevent skilled people from leaving communist East Berlin.

You know, like a prison…

That the Congressional Black Cockeyes have gone to Castro to proclaim that he deserves American respect is yet another sign that far-left totalitarianism still has a following in America and all over the world. Why did leftists worldwide protest the Iraq war? One of the reasons is that they were in awe of the iron grip that Saddam Hussein had on Iraq, something that they wished to emulate.

When Castro asked, “How can (Cuba) help president Obama?” he knowingly was setting up a false premise. There is nothing Cuba can do for anyone. The best thing Castro could do for the United States, for his own people and for the world is something he never will do – move to free elections, free markets and free trade.
