Nancy Pelosi spoke with ABC and basically just came out and flatly admitted that she does not care if she burns the House majority to the ground to pass Obamacare. To her it will all be worth it eventually.
Lawmakers sometimes must enact policies that, even if unpopular at the moment, will help the public, Pelosi said in an interview being broadcast Sunday the ABC News program “This Week.”
“We’re not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress,” she said. “We’re here to do the job for the American people.”
It took courage for Congress to pass Social Security and Medicare, which eventually became highly popular, she said, “and many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill.”
That’s easy for her to say. Pelosi’s district in San Francisco wouldn’t care if she robbed a liquor store and shot the clerk. They would still re-elect her.
The point is however that she is not concerned with the midterms or the thought of losing them big. She considers the passage of the monster health care bill to be a once in a political lifetime priority.
If the Democrats do not manage to pass this bill through reconciliation it will not be because they are afraid of the voters or didn’t try.
They will do it if they can.
If there is any one thing that Nancy Pelosi will sacrifice her political career for it will be this bill.
If she loses her speakership then she will probably just retire with the knowledge that she rammed through the biggest govt. program that this country has ever seen and that from then on nobody will ever ever get to live their lives without having the govt. control it in some way.
That’s what Democrats do. They love to create these large enormous govt. programs that eventually become so important to
some millions and millions of people that they can make them dance like puppets every time and important election comes along. They don’t care if the programs can never ever support themselves or will eventually collapse. They will be long gone by then and won’t have to take the blame.
Social security. Medicare. Welfare. Public Housing and food stamps. It’s all good.
Who cares if it a fiscal monster that will always get bigger and more expensive….?
Here is the beauty of the health care bill to Nancy.
Stay with me on this.
You don’t need Security if you’re young or are rich.
Most people do not need welfare or public housing.
Many many people have their own private insurance and do not rely on Medicare.
They don’t need govt.
But if this bill passes and it becomes law that every single person in America has to buy insurance one way or another then now they got you.
With all those other programs many people could go their whole lives and not be affected by them.
Not with health care. Not if it passes.
It will be the mother of all govt. control.
If this eventually leads to some sort of single payer system then they will own you.
They will be able to tie your health insurance to everything.
Your kid’s school. College. Your bank accounts and tax returns. Your medical records. I bet they will even link it to your mortgage somehow because how can a bank possibly lend you money if you get sick and die and can’t pay the loan….?
Unions. Banks. Hospitals. Drug companies. All employees everywhere. All employers everywhere.
They will all dance to the music of health care insurance.
Then every few years they will try to lower premiums or increase benefits or thrown is some little goody just to get you to vote correctly.
What is so bad about losing an election or two when in the end you get entrenched in the lives of every single person in the country by controlling their health insurance ?
That’s power baby.
“When we have a bill,” she said, “you can bake the pie, you can sell the pie. But you have to have a pie to sell.”
And if that pie costs the tax payers trillions of dollars and eventually collapses the private insurance industry leading to an eventual single payer system then that is a hell of a pie.
