As the United States gears up for another war in Syria, the president has postponed $32,000-a- head fundraiser with Hollywood’s elite  due to the crisis.  It’s nice to see Obama delay this event, and I’m sure liberals will tout his role as commander-in-chief.  Then again, he didn’t show Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was assassinated last year, the same courtesy.  He jumped on a plane to Vegas to collect those checks since he was worried about losing his job to Mitt Romney.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote on September 5 that:

President Obama has postponed a Los Angeles fundraiser scheduled for next Monday.

The announcement arrives as Congress gets ready to debate the authorization of the use of military force against Syria.

The reception was to be held at the Hancock Park home of Friendsco-creater Marta Kauffman and her husband, composer Michael Skloff.

The Sept. 9 Hancock Park fundraiser with Obama was set to include an exclusive $32,400-per-person “off the cuff” roundtable discussion with the president, as well as a photo line for those who donate $5,000 to the party — and raise an additional $20,000 from others.

The event was expected to bring in well over $1.2 million for the DNC. While in Los Angeles, Obama was also scheduled to address attendees of the national AFL-CIO convention.

Now, let’s go back to September 2012 – the day after the attack on Benghazi.  CNS News reported that:

On the day after the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed in Benghazi, the White House on Wednesday morning released a schedule showing that President Obama would continue with his planned campaign trip to Las Vegas.

Before he leaves, the schedule indicated, Obama will “deliver a statement” in the White House Rose Garden at 10:35 a.m., the White House said.

Heck, even NBC’s David Gregory had to ask if this was an “inappropriate” move by the president.  Obama adviser David Plouffe provided cover, albeit it was shamelessly transparent.

DAVID GREGORY: “Was it inappropriate for him to go to a fundraiser the day after this attack now in retrospect knowing that it was a terrorist attack, inappropriate for him to engage in politics as usual?”

DAVID PLOUFFE: “No. The president obviously is 24/7 engaged in the job of the presidency. He has spent an enormous amount of time in these weeks, by the way, in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. So absolutely not. A president is on call 24/7, and that just comes with the job.”

GREGORY: “24/7, but apparently not during U.N. meetings…”

Gregory was referring to Obama skipping U.N meetings with world leader to catch a few minutes with the ladies on The View. American Crossroads highlighted that fact with this ad at the time.

So, now that Obama has no more elections to mount, he can call off fundraisers and look presidential.  Yet, when his career was possibly on the ropes last year, Obama disregard Stevens’ death because he needed money for his campaign.  What a tool.
