Which Americans Will Be Made To Suffer The Most In The Oncoming Economic Crises...

Let`s say that in the next few months we will begin living through an endless catastrophe. It`s starting now with Russia`s buildup of military force in Syria to finally destroy President Assad`s enemies. The ramping up of military strikes against all possible resistance there, starting with eastern Aleppo, where the opposition rebels are holed up, will just keep escalating as Russia-Iran try to obliterate everything that is not a part of Assad`s forces. Period. Does any one doubt this…and increased refugee flows are inevitable…and both Sunni Turkey and Saudi Arabia will be increasingly nervous about Iran`s growing presence right in their backyard, so turmoil in the Middle East is guaranteed to escalate. Period.

All of this, combined with the fragile global economy and the diminishing potential for continued growth, and the dire debt situation for the U.S. and Europe, now beginning to include Germany with its increasing refugee burden…well, all this will soon be culminating in a rolling series of economic crises gripping the world that will probably be impossible to get out of. So…

As it becomes more and more apparent to the middle class in America that the country has really passed into a new and dangerous irreversible state of stagnation and decline, that there will be no re-industrialization of America as the Donald has promised, that the future of the many young people living at home with their parents will not be getting any better, that the robot-artificial intelligence revolution such as with driverless cars that will be progressively eliminating millions of working class driver`s jobs in trucking and transportation and delivery services is really happening, that the wealth inequality just won`t get any better, that crumbling infrastructure will be growing exponentially and will be requiring emergency fixes, and a whole litany of other intersecting and self-reinforcing problems…well, more populist firebrand leaders will come to the fore and will be offering some palliative, and in many cases revolutionary, remedies just to prevent things from getting even worse. Which of this growing variety of populist fixes will gain traction among a broad range of the public do you think…

Not the Bernie Sanders `soak the rich and re-distribute`plans, because there is too much common sense in the public, still, to fall for that mirage, which would cripple Main Street in its efforts to punish the abstract financial shenanigans of Wall Street. There will be some of that of course but debates about the merits of monstrous derivatives trading and forward markets and the manipulations of arbitrage just can`t capture the public`s imagination and those things are so incomprehensible that no one can know for sure that trying to radically alter that stuff won`t shut down the ordinary working-producing parts of the economy.  And there will be no broad-based cry for reducing Food Stamps or Planned Parenthood or any other social welfare programs that large fractions of the public feel will be even more important in economically perilous times, when ordinary people will be relying more and more on government. So, whom will the public want to cut, more than anybody else…

I submit it will be spending on the prison population. When the life-boat mentality takes deep hold in America, which will be very soon I think, the typical human mentality will be frightened and angry, and will look for scapegoats. The focus will be on some of the illegal immigrants, certainly the criminals and drunk drivers, etc., but, still, people will sympathize with poor working class Mexican-Guatemalan families and will shrink from persecuting them too much.

There is only one group in America that the vast majority can agree should be cut off, completely, and that`s the large violent criminal population. About the vast numbers of non-violent drug offenders now incarcerated, who knows how that will go…but the public will demand that no more tax dollars should go into supporting the still large convicted VIOLENT and dangerous prison population. Those bastards should be cut off…and will be. So how will that look…(One example of this kind of stupidity is the recent MULTI-MILLION dollar manhunt for those two prison escapees, Matt and Sweat, from a prison in upstate New York last June. Aided by that penal system employee woman frump, jeez! None of that will have to happen in the future…and that manhunt in the Pennsylvania forests last October for that survivalist creep, the guy who killed a Penn state trooper,  which also cost millions. This waste of money will STOP, under a new dispensation, which is coming)

In a stagnant America with rising poverty rates there will be a clamor to transfer the many hundreds of thousands, maybe couple million bastards in prisons and jails across the country to penal camps in a convenient wilderness somewhere, far from civilization. Maybe Alaska…where they will be herded off the cattle cars and dumped in the bush, with only some hand tools and rough clothing and cans of beans left for them…and the bastards can fend for themselves. In a time of continuous media coverage of the hungry poor, and swarms of non-violent homeless, and mentally ill vagabonds on the streets for whom Medicaid will have been curtailed in the incessant and increasingly rancorous budget battles to come…don`t you think there will be a groundswell of public opinion that the next Congress and administration, already comprising more and more populist demagogues and extremists, should, and WILL, cut off all foreign aid, for one thing, and forget about any constitutional protections for violent offenders and…just transport them to the wilderness…where they can go to hell.

This is the future. You will see.

P.S. One objection by the manicured chattering classes we see all the time on places like CNN is that, well, these prison and manhunt costs just add up to millions of dollars, just a `rounding error`in the public budgets, and the hundreds of billions of dollars we must save in the future cannot, in any way, be realized with such populist proposals as revamping the prison system. To such objections the mass of the American public will say…it`s a matter of MORALITY, and eliminating waste in public budgets has to start SOMEWHERE…and what better place than getting rid of the violent criminals in our midst…FOREVER! What the hell is wrong with that idea…
