And the LA Times agrees.
Among white Democrats, Obama’s job approval rating has dropped 11 points since his 100-days mark in April, according to surveys by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. It has dropped by 9 points among white independents and whites over 50, and by 12 points among white women — all groups that will be targeted by both parties in next year’s midterm elections.
Interestingly enough, when taken by region the largest changes are in the Northeast (-15) and the West (-10).
Now I don’t find much here to celebrate. It’s one poll and although his numbers have been going south for a while I really don’t put much stock in polling at this point. Plus the fact that polling on Obama at this juncture is pretty much mental masturbation. We’re not going to see anything that approaches substantive for another six months or so. There does seem to be some buyers remorse going on though.
Our job should be to go after him on issues – that’s where he’s weak – just look at the townhalls. It would be interesting if we could pick off a couple more high level advisers as well. Thankfully the birthers seem to be rotting in their own production and the rest of us can get on with the issues. The real battles on health care are just getting ready to start and we have to prepared to hold our Reps and Senators to the fire. Then comes card check.
