Clueless. Just freaking clueless.
I’m on record that Mike Duncan is an idiot and is utterly unfit for the job of RNC Chair. Well, today we discover that – for different reasons – he’s not alone.
Hey folks, I’ve been – pretty rightly – accused of being a Neanderthal. While I might quibble about the edges on that one, I’ll certainly never be confused with a progressive guy who takes “feelings” into consideration very often. So, when I see this, and I can figure out that it’s gotta be one of the most brain-dead, totally insensitive, pin-a-“kick-me”-sign-on-my-back, stoooooooopid things I’ve seen this whole year, ya gotta wonder.
(CNN) — A candidate for Republican National Committee chairman said Friday it was clear the content of a CD he sent committee members for Christmas — that included lyrics from a song called “Barack the Magic Negro” — was intended as a joke.
“I think most people recognize political satire when they see it,” Chip Saltsman told CNN. “I think RNC members understand that.” Saltsman, a former chair of the Tennessee Republican Party, was a top advisor to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and managed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign.
This is after the flap about Kayton Dawson’s whites only country club membership.
Mr. Saltsman and Mr. Dawson, please do us all a favor and form a suicide pact with Mike Duncan because giving one of you guys the RNC Chair job would be tantamount to suicide for the Republican Party. For goodness sake Chip, the media has been going berserk over Kayton Dawson being a member of a “whites only” country club and you pull this crap. Combined with your job history, working for the most worthless and gutless Senate majority leaders on record and managing the campaign for our religious-populist, hopefully you won’t find work in the Party for the foreseeable future.
We need an RNC Chair who can pull the Party together behind conservative principles and put together a war plan to take back the Congress and the White House. What we don’t need is a “Karl Rove caretaker” or somebody dumb enough to belong to a whites only country club or hand out what is arguably the dumbest Christmas present ever.
Let me be really clear here. I don’t care where Dawson plays golf or with whom. And I don’t much care about the little ditties Saltsman sends to his friends. What I do care about is that we have an RNC Chair who is able to focus our limited resources and put the Party together in a winning combination without being distracted by this sort of utter stupidity. After eight years of defending a sitting President who wouldn’t bother to defend himself when he was right, I’m sick of seeing us spend all of our time and effort play defense.
So, Mike & Kayton & Chip, have a good life. Just have it somewhere else so the Republican Party can get back to the business of winning elections and – hopefully – stopping the growth of government.
