What we've got here is a failure to communicate...

Paul Newman died today, he was 83. His obit is here, from API hated his politics. I loved the man. He was a fantastic actor, and one, it seemed anyway, who wasn’t taken with himself. And he was a real-life race car driver who actually drove in real-live races. No small accomplishment, that. He also put his money where his mouth was, starting “Newman’s Own” and giving all of the profit from sales to charity.

The thing that has endeared his memory to me is his comment to Playboy magazine, when asked about the temptation to stray from his marriage vows, “I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?”. He and actress Joanne Woodward celebrated 50 years of marriage in January of this year.

I’ll miss you Paul. Thanks for the memories.
