Pressure ABC to release the full unedited tape of the Palin Interview ...

The general consensus from watching the Palin interview on ABC is that Governor Palin did good – a good B.

But it would seem that she acquitted herself much better against Charles Gibson than ABC was apparently comfortable showing the American people. Going by the full transcript of the interrogation interview my immediate suspicion that a lot of stuff was being left on the cutting room floor that simply shouldn’t appears to have been borne out. Mark Levin has the full unedited transcript on his website, with the parts edited out by ABC underlined and in bold – clearly showing that she provided significantly more detailed and well-thought out answers to Charles Gibson’s questions than America saw (and is seeing) on its television screens.

Under normal circumstances, one would be inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to ABC, given that the people in the cutting room had only a limited amount of time and picking and choosing what is pertinent is an inherently subjective task. But it’s hard not to think that this was deliberate considering the fawning softball interview the very same Gibson gave Obama – especially when one considers that Obama is no more qualified than Sarah Palin on paper and he is actually aiming for the top job. It’s even harder when you realize that they actually cut the Governor off when she answering a question in mid-sentence and that they also took the scissors to questions Gibson asked.

GIBSON: So what should we do about a nuclear Iran? John McCain said the only thing worse than a war with Iran would be a nuclear Iran. John Abizaid said we may have to live with a nuclear Iran. Who’s right?
PALIN: No, no. I agree with John McCain that nuclear weapons in the hands of those who would seek to destroy our allies, in this case, we’re talking about Israel, we’re talking about Ahmadinejad’s comment about Israel being the “stinking corpse, should be wiped off the face of the earth,” that’s atrocious. That’s unacceptable.
GIBSON: So what do you do about a nuclear Iran?

PALIN: We have got to make sure that these weapons of mass destruction, that nuclear weapons are not given to those hands of Ahmadinejad, not that he would use them, but that he would allow terrorists to be able to use them. So we have got to put the pressure on Iran and we have got to count on our allies to help us, diplomatic pressure.

To be honest, given the behavior of the Press throughout this campaign season, starting with the torpedoing of Hillary (it was fun to see liberal Democrats finally acknowledging that a pro-Democrat bias – even if it’s not their Democrat – in the MSM could exist) during the primaries, and after the hideous enabling and airing of unhinged assaults and allegations on Sarah Palin over the past two weeks, how could anyone be surprised? ABC is no less staffed, managed and owned (NOTE: Robert Iger donates almost exclusively to Democrats) by liberals than CBS and NBC. And as Howard Kurtz kindly let us know – the media has been getting mad – at McCain for “manipulating” them.

That is why I have to decline bs (he’s being far too kind) calling me a “prophet for writing this … it was more than a little obvious even before the first part of the interview was broadcast, much less afterward. From the comments, I wasn’t the only one thinking along the lines that Palin should have brought her own camera and cameraman along when she landed in Fairbanks. Republicans have been given the shaft by the MSM enough times that a camera and campaign staffer to man it during interviews, press conferences and every other interaction with the media should be a standard part of any GOP’er’s campaign budget, even if they never use it.

So … the question is; what do we do next? Simply put, America needs to know that ABC and Gibson may have, deliberately or not, crossed the edge of the border into Dan Rather-TXANG territory. We need to have the full unedited tape of the interview made available on not just ABC’s website, but free to be uploaded to YouTube, LiveLeak, GoogleVideo, etc. and the whole world needs to know about it.

  1. Get all of the Right’s talk show hosts and fair-minded alternative media outlets, from Limbaugh, Hewitt and Drudge on down to pound on this message all Monday to the millions of listeners driving to work and the millions of visitors to their websites.
  2. Have every single Republican elected official and/or Republican running for election demand for a release of the full unedited tape of the interview on their websites (at least).
  3. Start an online petition drive to force ABC to release the full unedited tape ASAP, leading with the refrain that the people have a right to know.

I once wrote that it would be the height of irony if the MSM’s former darling and favorite Republican would end up being their undoing. {grin} I can’t say that the prospect does not fill me with some … satisfaction.
