In Denver, the Democrats will place the name of Hillary Rodham Clinton in contention for the Dem nomination. The State delegations will vote for either her or for Obama. Obama is slated to win.
What’s in this for Hillary? The same thing that was in it for Ronald Reagan in ’76. Reagan did the ballot thing in Kansas City, 1976, and he made himself the frontrunner in 1980. This will do wonders to make Hillary the putative frontrunner for the Dem nomination in 2012.
Also, by pretending to give Hillary’s people a “voice” at the convention, Axelrod will probably reduce at least the severity of the convention rioting by the Clinton forces.

UPDATE: Hillary herself, a New York superdelegate, has promised that she’ll cast her ballot for Barry. Honest.
