…if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. I wholeheartedly agree. I will be the first to tell you I’m a staunch, conservative Republican. I voted for Dubya. I will also be the first to say I believe this particular administration failed in their governing of the country. Now before anyone tries to tell me (or yell at me, I guess) that I’m no Republican, let me continue…I find it abhorrent and appalling the way our fellow Americans blast the President and other majority-elected officials. This poor guy has, in my opinion, the hardest job in the world. If I make a mistake at work, the most that’ll happen is my boss might yell at me. I don’t make the nightly news, hit every Bush-bashing blog in the world, or have polls taken via mail, phone, or door-to-door about how terrible I am. He’s done the best he can, to the best of his abilities (with advisors all along the way) to do what he deemed in the best interest of America. Let’s go back seven years to September 12th, 2001, for a minute…shall we? The Twin Towers have just been hit the day before. (And I’m sorry to have to revisit this again, in yet another election year…) People are looking to the White House for answers and action. President Bush is in his what, 9th month of the presidency? He votes to hunt that bastard bin Laden down and go to war. Yes, the war has gotten quite long and out of hand, but imagine the backlash had he NOT opted to go to war…? Can you imagine the flying fur and angry blogs about how he was leaving us open like a sitting duck, or making the USA look like wimps? He’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. Yes, the war has gone on much longer than necessary, but complaining about it and whining about what a “failure” it is insults the thousands of soldiers over there right now keeping the insane, backwards, and highly confused extremists from causing another disaster. So we haven’t yet caught bin Laden. Don’t hear from him much these days, do you? There’s a quote in the Bible that, whether a person is religious or not, appeals to every single person on Earth…”let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Everyone who complains about, bashes, criticizes, or insults our President of the United States – the man who has held his head high and pressed on during the rockiest of moments, and continued to lead our country – all I have to say is…let’s see you go do it better. Either put up or shut up.
