African-American, Native-American, Hispanic-American, Chinese-American, etc.
These innocent sounding names that are used to identify others really serve a very different purpose. These names cause people to divide themselves.
In the middle of the 20th century, there was a great push to end the practice of segregation. Everyone deserved to be treated equally and receive the same education. The practice of treating others as second-class citizens was overturned, opening doors for everyone to chase the American Dream. It was a great time for America and one that everyone who loves our country should celebrate.
However, a different practice has came about, mostly through the work of the party who fought against the same rights for others. This new practice emphasizes identification by racial type.
The government is heavily involved in this separation process. Try filling out a job application and invariably you are asked to identify yourself by race. At times I’ve wanted to check Other and write in ‘Human‘.
We are told that only someone of your race can understand your problems. This race is keeping you down. Your race owes mine. We must lower standards for that race because they can’t make it if the same standards are applied ( I would be really offended at that). A new one is “how can anyone of Hispanic origin be a Republican?” This one by that intellectual giant, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
We have groups like the KKK, La Raza, New Black Panthers, Brown Berets, etc. that preach hate for others and demand some form of reparations because of skin tone.
Quotas in hiring, instead of by ability or qualifications. Different standards for different racial types. Some churches allowed to talk about politics in the pulpit but others investigated if they do it. Jerks like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton appoint themselves spokesmen for African-Americans and proceed to become wealthy men by extorting businesses who don’t hire enough minorities.
Now, charges of racism are leveled against the left’s political opponents with increasing frequency. These charges are used to force others into submission. Arizona passed a law to enforce laws against illegal immigration. Nowhere in this law was race to be a factor. In fact, racial profiling was prohibited. Immediately there were cries of racism. When Barack Obama is criticized, it is said to be about his race. Which part, his white half or his black half?
When I was a kid, I remember Schoolhouse Rock talking about the melting pot. Everyone coming here and joining together as Americans. Now we teach that everyone should be able to keep there language and culture. Fine, keep them but remember you came here to be Americans. That should come first. Learn English so you can have a better chance to succeed.
No longer should we go along with the idea of hyphenated Americans. It serves to divide us and helps create the US vs. THEM mentality. Refuse to be divided. Stand up for your beliefs. We are all one people, in the greatest nation on Earth.
No racists wanted. We are equal before the law, but should be rewarded for ability, not color.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
The left claims to support minorities but advances policies that show racial favoritism. Our nation is being torn apart by these policies and we need to set the tone by refusing to go along with this nonsense.
